Carlos Alberto Parreira has resigned. I have an inside take on it. It appears that there was more to his resignation than just the ill-heath of his wife. It appears that he was being undermined by his local assistant coaches. The same appears to be happening to Joel Santana. Bad defeats suggest that there is real possibility that they will not qualify for ACN in Angola in 2010.

Is this assistant coach from South Africa? Or someone from Parreia own coach team?

From South Africa. There were two local coaches who were supposed to report to Parreira. They were supposed to keep him informed on PSL players. THey were basicaly given to him by the SAFA. Sometimes they didn't bother for days. One of them once just refused to report for twenty days without even explaining it. Sounds like they were trying to force Parreira out and now doing same to Santana. Most of the players in recent debacle against Super-Eagles were recommended by these clowns. Seems like they are hoping Santana does badly so SAFA turns to locals again. Will post link on undermining of Parreira in next couple of days.

@ Juli: What did you think of the article and what was going on. I hear the undermining of Santana has begun already.

Fist of all, IF Parreira knew this was going in on, and didnt warn Joel Santana BEFORE he accepted the job, he is a scumbag, because he was the one that recommended Santana’s name to South Africa FA, so it was his responsibility to make sure to Santana what he should expect in this job.

Second of, no offense to African people, since I see this in Brasil too, its kind of sad, but I know that this can happen, you see, sometimes not developed countries has this great power of self destruction, its part of people's mentality, corruption, lack of professionalism, etc. The entire World Cup preparation can be affected, but they don’t give a damn as long as they get the job and their piece of the cake.

I understand the fact that you don’t agree with a foreign manager in charge of your national team, what I can’t accept, its you sabotaging his work for you to achieve your goal, if you don’t agree, resign and let him do the work by himself, but that’s too much dignity and professionalism for football managers and we all know that they don’t have this.

@ Juli: Parreira knew that this was going on. I have a good source. Don't know if Parreira warned Santana and Saantana thought offer too good to turn down. Worrying thing is that the ones who undermined Parreira are the same ones who recommended players to Santana, who acted on their recommendation and got beaten badly. Word in South Africa is so bad they don't think thy will qualify for African Cup of nations in Angola. Stupid thing is I doubt that those two would get the job anyway unless they butter up Khoza.
