    Disaster for Scotland.

I thought the ref was on our side until that red card. We need the Dutchies to not try in our next match.

What is the situation in the group? No idea who is second now! I do remember the Scotish people were very pleased with this group..Holland was doable and the rest wasnt a problem either!

    Woeful stuff from Scotland.

Shit manager. Shit tactics. Shit (for the most part) players.

Scotland's only saving grace in this group is that Holland aside, the other teams are equally shit. Norway's 3-0 win shouldn't gloss over that they are an equally bad side. They were probably even worse than Scotland before Caldwell was sent off.

As bad as Scotland are, Burley is a fucking horrible manager. He picks wrong players, in the wrong positions. Likes of Commons, Alexander, Steve Caldwell, Davidson are awful footballers, and I'm sick of seeing 10 chance Kenny leading the line as well. Course, doesn't help when the so called better players (Fletcher, Brown) fail to step up again.

Macedonia looked pretty decent in the first half against Spain, scored two goals. Scotland really need to step up now, if they want to make it to the play-offs.

With all the teams vying for second place taking points off each other the second placed in that group might be the team that misses out on the play-off spot.

It would be pretty depressing anyway if one of those teams somehow managed to win their playoff and got to the World Cup. I'd back Puro's argument for an extra SA spot rather than seeing Macedonia or Norway or Scotland in the World Cup. Or maybe even an extra African spot.

South America? Africa definitely needs another spot. S. America already have half the continent in WC spots. Africa is a 50 nation continent with 5 spots.

And Asia/Oceania are a 70 nation continent with 5 spots.

If South America ever wants more spots they can merge there entire qualifcation process with North America rather than requesting FIFA for any more spots.

Thinking about the Scotland squad; it's depressing that the two best strikers never get picked (Riordan & Boyd) Riordan is easily the most talented forward Scotland have but at 25/26 he has just one cap. And Boyd despite being the most prolific (by far) Scottish striker is now exiled from international football after posting a 1 in 2 record for the national side (a lot of which were cameo apps!)

Unfortunately, neither fit the mould of your headless-largely talentless Kenny Miller type; who will run around for 90 minutes but invariably with no end product. Riordan and Boyd are quite lazy, but do produce, and you even have Burley picking O'Connor over Riordan, a player who has probably scored about 2 goals in the last 12 months.

Also, I have to say it's unfortunate that in all likelihood, three very good sides I would have liked to be at the tournament are likely to miss out, Belgium, Turkey, Portugal.

Belgium in particular are a side I would have liked to see at the tournament, but perhaps this is a tournament too early for their squad.

    ok

For some reason it doesnt seem to work when those players are at the Belgian national team. It still is early days for this generation, but since 2002 they havent qualified for any EC or WC yet. They have to qualify for 2012 since they are as good as out for S-africa. The talent is there though with Mirellas, Hazard, Fellaini, Dembele, Defour, Witsel, Martens, Mertens Vermeulen etc.

But next time they have Advocaat as coach and they deserve a bit of luck with the draw, but im sure they will do better in 2012!
