France still don't have a clear style of play. Can't break down teams, can't score from set pieces, aren't great on the counter. They just fuck around and rely on individuals to get through.
They won a World Cup , European Championship and reached another World Cup Final doing that.
People will look at the history books, see the stats, see flair players like Zidane and Djorkaeff and will be very kind to them.
They never played great football as a team.
They won a WC on set-pieces v Brazil 'cos Ronaldo had a fit and beat Italy 'cos Holland had knackered them.
Holland should have won those tournies.

The Henry apologists are hilarious. Consoling another player for the cameras after blatantly cheating and throwing their team out of the WC because of that means nothing.

First - I am not at all happy we went through with this coach, captain and the whole team. Ireland definitely deserved better.
Secondly - What happened with Henry is a disgrace without doubt. But shouldn't video technology or something be brought on? When was Maradona's hand of god goal? 1986? 23 years and we haven't made progress.

Holland should have won many tournies...but we would have lost against them. Since we always lose against the host in a WC final. And France had a betters striker in Guivarch and Dugarry...we had Kluivert

How can you mention a warrior like Shevchenko who has his face smashed to try and score goals and bleeds on his shirts in the same breath as a cheating coward like Henry

Re: FRANCE - Summer 2012 thread
Henry actually played well in this match and the attack in general was good. It was the midfield who had zero composure, creativity or solidity that fucked things up for France tonight.
Gourcuff gave the ball away at every opportunity, A.Diarra was comepletely pointless, didn't even shield the defence. L. Diarra was OK but fouled throughout the match and made stupid passes. Gourcuff was probably the worst player over the two legs and yet Domenech didn't take an alternative just in case this happened .

French teams of the past were probably the best defensively in the world at their time. Yes they were negative but they had a clear style of play. This current one hasn't got a clue. They remind me of Madrid under Capello few years ago.

Cheyrou/vieira instead of Alou Diarra and France could have not only kept the ball better but actually used it better.
Nasri should have replaced Gourcuff after the 1st leg, but Domenech inexplicably left him at home.

Don't blame Henry for the handball a lot of players do it automatically in a situation like that. But if thereafter you allow the goal to stand, you're a cheating c**t. Great night for all the Irish Gunners
Anyway he's up there with Maradona now

Re: FRANCE - Summer 2012 thread
Funnly enough I would be the last person to be an apologist for TH who I agree has been a self-serving p***k throughout his career. I never liked him even at his pomp with us. However he looked reasonably contrite tonight I thought. Other players in his position (for example, one whose name starts with 'Ade' and ends with 'bayor' ) will have been doing cartwheels and running the length of the pitch to wind up Irish fans.
