Silly decision all round. It's not like he's the man they need and it's not good for his health either considering he's already had a massive heart attack when under stress.

On his wiki
"Nottingham Forest
Kinnear was out of work until Nottingham Forest offered him the manager's job in February 2004. Kinnear kept the club up, but a poor start to the 2004–05 season meant he was sacked in December 2004. But everybody loved his playboy lifestyle."

Re: Kinnear named Newcastle boss !
Why is Newcastle fucked ?!
Kinnear was absolutely *brilliant* as manager of Wimbledon in the nineties !
I always hoped I would see the return of him
....and his style of play fits the Newcastle fans like a glove I might add....
Will probably be the kiss of death : I can see this working very well

Can't possibly be any worse than the current caretaker manager, just have to hope that they are going to taken over when Ashley says.

That's really strange. You'd think some managers out of work and needing some media profile would be desperate for the job even with all the hassle that will come with it - Glenn Hoddle & David O'Leary to name two.

Re: Kinnear named Newcastle boss !
MMaybe he's just come to stir up more headlines.
"Mike Ashley has made it clear to me that they have a buyer lined up, and that they hope to sell the club at the start of October. They've relayed to me that the new investors have Kevin Keegan lined up, and possibly Alan Shearer. I'm well aware for the situation."
Silly billys.

Re: Kinnear named Newcastle boss !
bad appointment IMO
Kinnear is clearly only interested in this job as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. As soon as a job at Yeovil or Colchester comes up he'll be off.

Wasn't Kinnear the one who allegedly had a home answerphone message saying 'Hi, this is Joe Kinnear, if you are calling from Inter Milan to offer me the manager's job I accept, otherwise leave a message after the tone' or similar?

Re: Kinnear named Newcastle boss !
Bit of a blast from the past. Although he's not a very popular name in football these days, it's only a short term measure though, so not exactly the end of the world or anything. All they probably need right now (or at least the short-term priority) is someone who can come in and motivate the players, give them some confidence to tide them over while the backroom changes go on. There'd be no point bringing in anyone to try and implement longer term tactical changes.
O'Leary, for example, would've been Cr@p for that. He sounds too insincere, and always plays things down. Maybe Kinnear's just a good talker?

Or maybe he has a past relationship with Dennis Wise.
