    Comeback wins? Check.

    Beating your title rivals? Check.

    Getting away with rotation/injuries? Check.

Winning when playing poorly? Finally, check.

Tottenham Hotspurs today. I think it could be a very good match, we've been involved in some cracking matches this season and Spurs are capeable of scoring goals as we saw in midweek so I think it will be an entertaining affair.

I think it will be a draw, a score draw, I wouldn't risk Torres if he still isn't 100%. He will be desperate to start the game against Atletico which is a crunch game as we need to be finishing top of the group to ensure we avoid the likes of Barcelona etc in the last 16.

    I'd go with this today:

    --------------------------Reina--------------------------------------

    -------Arbeloa------Carra--------Agger------------Aurellio------------

    ---------------------Masch--------Alonso----------------------------

    -----Kuyt-------------------Gerrard------------------Riera-------------

    ----------------------------Keane----------------------------------------

Babel on the bench and maybe even Torres if we are struggling, I think that's a strong team and of course all eyes will be on Keane returning to his former hunting ground.

We deserved that somewhat, why? For us messing around at times and not putting the ball in the back of the net.

We've had our fair share of luck so far this season, but we've also shown bags of character. On top of that we've shown much better use of the ball and aggression in winning it back too. All three of those qualities deserted us tonight, which is why I'm so disappointed. Spurs had f@ck all to worry us and yet they took all three points. I can't help but reflect that our first defeat has come in our first match as league leaders.

We didn't handle the pressure very well in the last few mins espically. Even Pepe made a few mistakes today. Handling the pressure will be the key to the reminder of the season. Still, get a win against Athletico and concentrate on premiership for the next few weeks plus Torres back and fingers crossed all will be good again.

*Rafa stop playing Dossena and Kuyt on the right. Give Kuyt a go with Torres up front next week ok

This result / performance, only places emphasis upon our lack of cutting edge.

Ironically we've been conceeding goals left right and centre this season, which in comparison to previous seasons is a worry.

If we decide to play more expansive football due to our players and formation, we have to take advantage of the opportunities we create...

Whilst Torres has been prolific for us, he is again far from composed in front of goal like Rush, Fowler and Owen proved to be, however his ability always creates chances...

If we are to win the league this season... as many pundits have said, we need Torres... whilst Kuyt and co have in the mean time filled the void.... today proves we cannot rely upon their consistancy.

I expect 9 points from our next 3 games... but we must cross our fingers hoping Fernando doesn't get anymore injuries if we are truely to consider the title a realistic ambition.

Well yesterday was a freak result no doubt as it's probably one of the best matches we have played this season. These things happen in football. You are also being unfair to 'kuyt and co' as dirk was amazing yesterday. If everything goes against you in a game ie post three times, players miss simple chances, own goals, last gasp winner then you just have to accept it as a freak result and move on. The important thing was we didn't lose while playing badly. In fact we were pretty awesome yesterday. Torres coming back just makes us that bit better but we have been great without him as well

I agree with you COTR... apart from 'if everything goes against you in a game... players miss simple chances'

Sure we dominated TH - but it is the result that matters, and for all the posts / bars / chances we hit (or missed) this doesn't replace 3 points we should have secured...

You can put it down to bad luck... i put it down to poor finishing, we had some great opportunities to put the game to bed at 2-0. We didn't take those chances, the fact is... you have to take those chances to win games and pick up 3 points to continue our title ambitions, we didn't do that...

We can be sympathetic all we want, the simple fact is... we didn't win the game, a game we should have... and the players only have themselves to blame. If you want to win leagues you cannot allow games you dominate slip by... we did yesterday.

Could well decide if we are going to be champions this season, on paper we should be able to win all 6. However an absolute minimum requirement from these fixtures is 16 points.

These are all fixtures that basically we should piss up in but we usually f@ck up in, especially when against organized teams who play for a point try to hit us on the counter and pray for 3 points but realistically look for one.

So I believe by December 13 we will have a much better understanding about how this season is going to oan out for us in regards to the league.

08 Nov, 2008 West Brom (Home)

15 Nov, 2008 Bolton Wanderers (Away)

22 Nov, 2008 Fulham Barclays Premier League (Home)

01 Dec, 2008 West Ham United (Home)

06 Dec, 2008 Blackburn Rovers (Away)

13 Dec, 2008 Hull City (Home)

The fixtures after that excl the Aresnal game running till the end of Jan are also fairly handy as well.

United have Arsenal, Man City and Villa away next. Points are droppable in the first two games, I expect Villa to bend over and take it up again as they always do againist United so I don't expect much from that game.

Chelsea has a similar standard of fixtures coming up as us this next month and a bit.

One game at a time folks, let your outlook remain remain that way Ale

I was the match last night, and you certainly were unlucky. However, you also were too cautious- take it from me, I've seen a lot lesser capable teams than Liverpool come and play with more ambition than Liverpool.

You might win the league this season (and personally I hope you do, but mostly because it's been awhile since Liverpool were Champions), but if you do and carry on in the manner you have done, it won't be because you're pretty and attacking. It'll be because you are extremely organised.

In the first half you capitalised on our poor defending for an early lead, and then there was little else in the way of attacking impetus, looking more to suffocate the game than finish us off.

As for the the first 20 minutes of the second half, that was your best period, but you should temper this with the fact that we had made some key changes in the half time period and changed our tactics and personel.

Well mate. As I said at the start of the season and last night.... 2nd place would be a very good achievement and I would take it in a heartbeat.

We are still short of 2 maybe 3 players to really win the EPL in my view.

Your assesment is fairly spot on. I thought we were sloppy and out of sync in the first half after the goal. We didn't take the chances that were presented and as we all know a 1-0 lead means nothing more often then not if you do take advantage of good play and score the second goal.

Anyway.. congrats on last night ok The 2nd part of the 2nd half espically when Lennon came on you looked very good. As a fan of Pav, that goal againist us(I know he scored againist Bolton) will do him the world of good and I can see him banging them in now on. My brother was at WHL and has been a gloating twat. Though I'm glad he is asleep now as I don't have to hear him harp on about it Razz

Well its definitely worth mentioning that with Torres missing, you played with Robbie Keane up front supported by Kuyt and Gerrard in wider positions, and Robbie Keane isn't an out and out striker.

So it would be fair to sa Rafa has had to emply different tactics without Fernando. No doubt if Torres had been playing you would have had a better outlet to build counter attacks from.

I dont think personnel wise you're short in terms of your first XI - you ned Torres to remain fit and for Keane to start firing on all cylinders, because when he does he can add a lot of creativity to your attack. Some of the interchanges between Gerrard, Keane and Alonso last night was bewildering to witness in its first touch quick passing trickery. HE just hasn't been as good as he can be.

Your squad is also strong. To win the league you just need your top players to produce quality performances on a consistent basis. Like Chelsea are doing currently.

You have the quality in my eyes Ale

RW - Kuyt is great there but I rather he played upfront with Torres/Keane or whoever.

LB - Aurelio you can't depend on to stay fit more than 2 or 3 games. Dossena doesn't know how to defend whatsoever. Decent in attack truly horrible in defence. Jaun Manuel Vargas would be our answer to Clichy, Evra and A.Cole.

I think we need another creative attacking player as well, a flair player with some pace about him.

    RW is priorty though.
