Finally an intelligent substitution by SAF.

Giggs for Carrick was stupid. Shpould have been Fletcher for Carrick.

At least he has improved that somewhat by putting in Oshea for Anderson.

Bashmachkin wrote:Yes, van Persie has been sent off for Arsenal - Sorensen was dallying over a back pass, playing for time, refraining from picking the ball up, and van Persie ran towards him and essentially shoulder-barged him over. Maybe the red card was a little bit harsh, because it was a shoulder-barge rather than an elbow, but van Persie was petulant and players always tend to get red cards when they act in such situations. Arsenal are really falling apart, and obviously we have gone over their situation this past week - I agree with the sentiment that Wenger didn't do enough to hold on to Flamini; that aside, I think Arsenal's problem is with their defence, and I think Wenger needed to be brave and clear sighted over the summer by getting rid of Gallas, replacing him with a top class, dominant sort of centre back, and I think he needed a new keeper too. In attack, Arsenal should have more options now than ever, but they are weak in the centre in defence and that's ruining their team.
I agree that not having a proper DM isn't a big issue today.
I remember during that Bolton match at Reebok Stadium where Arsenal won 3-1, but had some problems, somebody pointed out, that in games like this player like Senderos is missed.

Yes, Stinger, I agree - I'm not sure how vital a defensive midfield purchase was for Arsenal in the summer. Ideally, they'd have kept Flamini or bought a quality replacement for him - someone mobile and athletic who could also have distributed the ball well. But I still think that, with Diaby, Song, Denilson, Ramsay, they have enough options for the midfield, and one of those should be able to forge a good partnership with Fabregas. On the other hand, I think a central defender was essential - I'd have got rid of Gallas personally (and I think Senderos made too many costly mistakes last season to stay around the Arsenal first team), but if not, then I think Wenger at least needed one quality centre back to provide some competition for Gallas and Toure, to prevent complacency, to provide some presence at the back. Especially once Hleb left, the concept of a quality centre back signing seemed to go out the window - the move for Zapata, for instance, went no further.

Anyway, Stoke won the game 2-1.

I agree, but but they need to lose to do it ok

IMHO Clichy's goal shouldn't be allowed, one Arsenal's player was offside and for my too close to a goalkeeper...

    Bother.

How many points off fourth place will we be after the next few games.

Interesting question though, is it even that the team is too young. Having 5/6 i nexperienced players shouldnt be a problem provided there's a good hand to lead them/ Our older players are useless at the moment. Gallas seems to have lost it, Toure has been useless for a year and Almunia will never calm a nervous defence.
