Oh dear, looks like we won't be winning the Carling Cup this year, how devastating. That was poor from Randall. A little bemused that we're two behind here, but I can't say I'm too bothered. We haven't taken at least five great chances so we deserve to get punished up the other end.

    Game over.

We have been poor so far(though we should been atleast level considering the missed chances) but I feel that shaky defence is the main cause for that. We hadn't conceded a single goal before tonight, and with Song and Djourou at the back, we had two players who'd bring the ball out of the defence and start our build ups(which is a big plus against a side that's playing the way Burnley are doing tonight) - we have sucked doing that so far.

Losing faith with Bendtner now. How much was Laudrup offering again?

I know its all academic but Eduardo would have had a brace or better tonight. Looking forward to his return.

Most of these kids will be off on loan for six months soon enough.

Yep, Bendtner needs to offer a lot more than this or he can leave. Unbelievably poor finishing, and when you wear pink boots you look particularly stupid missing so many chances.

It's all part of the learning experience. Playing in these games is a lot different to playing at home against teams with less motivation, and it wasn't the worst performance in the world, the only difference was that Burnley took their chances and we didn't. At the least it should keep some of these youngsters grounded, and hopefully they can get a bit more regular football now to continue developing.

It's a little disappointing to get knocked out of any competition, but only a little in this case. It may have been our best chance of a trophy, but I really find it hard to get enthusiastic about a Carling Cup. It would have been tough to win the competition playing just the kids and the later stages have been a distraction and a waste of resources in the last couple of seasons. A couple of positives tonight, but a few players will know that they have wasted a chance to impress.

Its easy play away without a single tackler cheers (even in defence).

Its no coincidence that both goals came from the left where there are two non defenders. Don't understand why Gibbs was so scared to attack considering he was better off not providing token defence.

Very disappointed with Bendtner - he must know that we lost the game because of him. He failed to hold the ball up for would be runners and missed three very easy chances. Only positive contribution was two excellent knock-downs.

Nice of Wenger to play Simpson on the right and leave Vela in the centre to challenge for the long balls ok.

Wilshire was very good for what he was and how bad every was around him.
