Well it's pointless trying to predict what will actually come out of the draw (since I don't know which balls will be warmed up), but here's what I'd like to see:
Barça-LyonProbably the most beatable of the 4 we can face (Inter, Chelsea, Arsenal being the other 3). I don't buy all this bollocks about "I want a hard team, you have to beat the hard teams anyway to win the CL" blah blah. Sorry, that's idealistic garbage.
Give me the easiest possible draw at each round any day, so that the team can balance league and CL commitments. At the end of the day no one remembers whether you beat Anorthosis or Liverpool in the QFs, just that you were the one lifting the trophy in Rome.
Just look at last season, Barça got to the semifinals because we got the easiest available team in the Round of 16 and QFs - first Rangers, then Schalke. That means more money, more coefficient points (helping with seeding later on), and more prestige. Otherwise our team last year was nowhere good enough to go that far.
Bayern-Real Madrid:Because Bayern always knock them out
Man. Utd.-AtleticoThis would be a great match IMO. Atletico's defending isn't great, but the prospect of Aguero testing himself against Ferdinand and Vidic is mouth-watering.
Liverpool-Villarreal:I think it would be an interesting clash of styles. Villarreal don't have as much quality at the back, but they play very well as a team, and I think they can make a good match of it in central midfield, Liverpool's strongest area.
Panathanaikos-Sporting:So that at least one underdog is in the QFs.
Porto-Inter:Would be a test for Mourinho against his former club...probably not the most open or exciting of matches though. Also chosen because I got to this point and the only other group winners left are Juve and Roma, neither of whom can face Inter
Juve-Chelsea:I don't think we've seen this matchup before, at least not recently. Again, would be an interesting matchup in terms of styles of play.
Roma-Arsenal:Both play attacking football, and although Arsenal have a bit more quality and different ways to win, the 2nd leg being in Rome will equalise things a bit.
