Young is extremely fast but not as quick as Henry plus he doesn't have the muscle.
More talented for me though.
Young has as many assists this season as Henry ever got in teh post Mourinho/benitez/Drogba EPL and its not even January

I reckon Young is as fast as Henry - his pace is probably underestimated because he happens to play alongside the fastest player in the league..

I'm not backing down that easily debaser
Babel definitely is and will go on to have a better career than young (probably at a club other than liverpool).
Riera to quote Pierre 'is more talented', but lacks the pace needed to really but his talent to maximum use
@ Pierre. Only on this board can someone be attempted to have the piss taken out of them for saying Thierry Henry is more talented than Ashley Young

Seriously, though, what has Babel got on Young?
Pace? Decision-making? Crossing? Finishing?
The only thing I can think of is height.

My opinion on young is that he will be another one of these players who excels at a midtable club but will struggle once they get their 'career' move (no offence to villa intended)
You could obviously argue that the same has actually happened to babel, but under the right coach ie not benitez I think babel would be a big success
The only important thing Young has over babel at the minute is that he is playing regularly so people get to see what he can do
To steal more of the Pierre school of thought, I won't be believing the Ashley Young hype until I see it being done against the top sides, in europe or for england. Pierre expects this from other players so it's the least I am asking of Ashley Young before proclaiming him as more talented than Thierry Henry

Re: Weekend Winners and Losers
I have recently thought that maybe we are starting an era when Ashley Young is overrated... but seeing an opinions here he is still in underrated class.
I really don't see how Babel can be better as him, especially if only position for Babel to shine is probably forward/striker role, and Young is a winger/wide midfielder.

Another difference is Young has impressed at all levels, whereas Babel wasn't even that good in Holland, according to the Dutchies on here.

COTR if Young fails to achieve that will stop me saying he is better than Henry.
It won't have any effect on me thinking he is more talented.

Thats all there is..Babel has shown very little in terms of talent. Why COTR keeps banging on about him god only knows.
Young obviously isnt as good as Henry, but to say he never will be? A pretty silly thing to say.

Re: Weekend Winners and Losers
I don't think Young will switch to an out-and-out striker like Henry anyway (height, and his effectiveness on the wing being but two reasons), so the comparison is kinda pointless.
But I will add that at the same age as Young is now, Henry had just completed his first season at Arsenal, and his scoring record before then was near identical to Young's. So clearly Young will be scoring 20+ per season from here on in

Young's best attribute is crossing. To make him a striker would be a horrible move imo.

COTR likes him a good hipshot - and Babel does have similar characteristics to Henry, problem is he doesn't have the brain & awareness of Chairwee.

If he goes off to a 2nd rate league like in Scotland and back to Holland then he'll do fine im sure..otherwise he's going to end a 10 goal a season man at best. He's more Vassell than Henry.

Just to cover your tracks for you here T/S. Does this mean Henry does have a good football brain and he isn't a pace merchant or are we talking in relative terms here

Re: Weekend Winners and Losers
Like myself TS has always acknowledged Teary* Henry's brain but his feet can't quite match said grey matter.
He is an athlete and visionary - its just a shame he's not a footballer.
People who compare Young's early EPL record to Henry's do Young a disservice as its a better EPL from 2004/05 onwards.
* The new version as used on SKY Sports for La Liga coverage.

Like Pierre says, I've always said Henry is an extremely intelligent player, which is what sets him apart from the likes of Babel, Cisse & Bent et al.
Talent & brains aren't equal to each other.
