No he has played 4-4-2 mostly this season but that hasn't worked either because it puts our only player capable of doing something (gerrard) too deep (when torres is out)
Kuyt and keane are the problem (and it's rafa's fault for buying them). They just are not suited to the roles they have to play when torres is out. They can look good when gerrard and torres are lifting the level of the team but without them our attack just looks ordinary.
tbh, if you played 4-5-1 which is Pool's best option, with Torres as lone striker. Your midfield would dominate our CL tie. Monster Mash and Alonso vs Gago and Guti
It's a certainty barring injuries that you will face the 4-2-3-1, but with any injuries to alonso, gerrard or torres instead you get to face lucas, yossi or keane respectively so we'll have to be lucky to get our best team on the pitch
