Chevanton On Road To Sevilla Return
The Uruguayan hitman has confirmed he is close to a return to action for the Andalusian club...
Sevilla have had to do without one of their key forwards for the majority of the season after the striker broke down in training in October with a knee injury.
It looked for some time that Chevanton may require surgery that would see him miss the rest of the season, but thankfully for the player and Sevilla it proved not to be necessary and now the 28-year-old is setting his sights on a return to first team action after three months on the sidelines.
Sevilla have been scuppered with injuries to both Luis Fabiano and Freddie Kanoute at various spells of the season, and without Chevanton as cover they have been short of options at the business end of the pitch.
But now he has set his sights on helping Sevilla clinch a top-four position, and he told journalists, "I'm working well now, the recovery has been long and heavy, also the psychological side too, but here I am, I'm back and ready to play.
"I was so tired over Christmas because I trained so hard but I have always stayed positive knowing that I would recover soon."
Careful Comeback
However, Chevanton, as much as he is desperate to get back into first-team action, does not want to aggravate the injury that he has trained so hard to recover from.
Sevilla face Deportivo on Wednesday evening in the Copa Del Rey in their second leg clash, but he continued, " I have been out for three months, and there is no point rushing back for the sake of four days,
"But I do not want to rule out a return to action for this weekend's match,"
Sevilla face Numancia in Andalusia on Sunday afternoon as they look to build on their fine win at the Riazor on Saturday evening against a strong Deportivo side.
