Can't even begin to think what went through their minds when writing that.. Starting from 'Ranieri likes the same players as Benitez' and ending up at '£28m for Kuyt'!

Kuyt does strike me as a potential Juve player in truth, but they forgot the decimal point in between the "two" & the "eight"

I'd gladly take £8M(and Giovinco or Chiellini ).
Could finally get Valencia(awaits EMP reply) or my guy, Whackeen
Rafa would never sell him though, as Kuyt would end their affair.

This is almost as ridiculous as Jermaine Pennant playing for Real Madrid. Almost. Kuyt is actually a halfway decent player.

Someone's clearly having a joke with the Pennant thing.
The Kuyt rumour could have some reality to it although the price is currently ridiculously off mark. I'd guess somewhere around £13m would be more accurate.

Re: Juve want Kuyt for £28million
I couldn't see Benitez selling Kuyt unless a ridiculous bid such as the above came in for him as he would need relatively large resources to replace him, the rationale as to why Benitez uses Kuyt to the dismay of some reds and rates him so highly can be found using Rinus Michels playmaking approach which i feel Liverpool's pattern of play reflects quite astonishingly... one of key features of this approach, is that defending from the front is essential, and if you can win the ball higher up the pitch it you can look to create wave after wave of attack, basically as Benitez often describes as 'controlling' the game and also reduces the threat from the one weakness of this system that the defensive line cannot be exposed having pushed up.
Good read for anybody who'd like to understand this further "Rinus Michels - team building road to success"

Re: Juve want Kuyt for £28million
Really?
It doesn't look like that in practice at all...Liverpool's back 4 (with the DMs in front) is often playing very deep, and "wave after wave of attack" is something you don't see often. What you have described down to a T is how Rijkaard's Barcelona played.

if Robinho and Berbatov are worth £31m then Kuyt is worth at least £28m I'd expect them to come back with an improved offer closer to £31m then we'll talk.
Are we really publishing rumours from football365?

Yes
it doesn't work so well with Hyppia in central defence and Carragher at right back, and in the knockout stages of the champions league it's also subject to change, but generally the tactic is to press high up the pitch and let Kuyt chase the ball.

This season the fullbacks are generally way beyond the halfway line. I think it sounds fairly accurate personally.

Doesn't it?
We play with holding midfielders who pass the ball out wide quickly to 'circulate' the ball, we often play a high line in posession... (try watching our games)... we rotate the wingers most often because in this system they work the hardest (emphasising Kuyt importance here), our players can interchange, Torres down channel, Kuyt central, Gerrard right or central (hence the total football approach) just because its not all flicks, and pretty football does not mean the approach is not being followed.
Another observation of this approach, is how the central midfielders play very close to the defensive line out of possession, again another feature of our play, another feature would be a defender moving into midfield with possession (Agger) or the opposite approach (same principle flooding midfield) Gerrard falling back..
I'm quite astonished how you don't recognise this?

Re: Juve want Kuyt for £28million
Liverpool do play with a very-high line, hence why Reina is so crucial, as he is their "sweeper-keeper", clearing up anything that gets in behind the defence, because whilst it's a well drilled unit the executes the offside trap better than any team I've ever seen, none of the defenders are known for their lightning recovery pace. Also their best two technicians & distributors (Alonso & Agger) obviously start deep.
Kuyt & Mascherano are the main pressers of the ball.

I'd run around the North West 5 times wearing a United shirt with Neville on the back and Everton Shorts to sell Kuyt for that price.

The thing is, Rafa will probably reject any bid for Kuyt.

he'd reject any sensible offer, certainly because Kuyt can't be replaced for £13m, but for £28m he can get a couple of new players and probably give Agger a new contract.

Most likely, someone will offer at most 10 m for him which I dont see Rafa budging for, and he is a vital player for you.

I agree with and have observed most of what you've said, about the midfield playing close to the back 4, Torres and Gerrard interchanging, etc....but I genuinely never watched a Liverpool game and noticed a high defensive line. I'll keep an eye out next time.

I thought we could have him back for 5 the other day!! FFS, Dirk doesnt belong in Italy, he is too nice for that!
He is worth more though..but he has to come home after next year FFS!!!
Our transfer kitty is 30 million next summer...but if that's how much he costs then Imo we should do anything to get him for that money
