Why is a defender getting so much stick for taking a poor-ish penalty?

At least he had the balls to step up and take a pen.
Bobo doesnt even have the balls to post his picture on this site.

But he knew he was going to miss. He should've let a better penalty taker go instead of him. He made the same mistake as John Terry.

Why do you want my picture? Are you gay or something?
Lots of people don't post their picture on here. It's just a personal preference that i don't show my picture to a bunch of people i've never met. It's a football forum afterall, not a networking website.
This is quite ironic coming from you anyway. The biggest regret of your life is posting your picture on here. What are you going to tell me next? At least you had the balls to post your picture?

When it comes to penalties, it's not really that important what position they play. Jagielka and Baines scored excellent penalties yet they are both defenders.

I know, but again, you don't expect a defender to have good technique. If they do, kudos to them, it's a bonus. Perhaps Rio shouldn't have taken it among the first 5, but we don't know whether that was his decision or another wrong one taken by Ferguson today.

Ferdinand is "supposedly" a defender with good technique though. Him being a defender is not an excuse, there have been defenders and even goalkeepers who were very good at taking penalties.

Maybe it\'s his way of showing affection.
I doubt he\'s Italian, just another Bruno De Gradi (wannabe Italian).

Funny that you say this since:
1) You don't know what i look like.
2) You happen to be extremely ugly.

Well, on that I agree - I used to think that about him (defender with good technique), but have changed my mind...his distribution of the ball is not very good at all. And he doesn't really bring it out like Agger, Puyol, or Pepe.

Bobo: If you are going to slag off a Manchester United player for a poor penalty, then surely Berbatov is first in line.

Maybe none of the others stepped up to take the penalty?
Certainly seemed that way given who the rest of them were that took penalties.

Perhaps.
But i would've thought Tevez would've volunteered himself to take a penalty given he took one in the CL and CC final.
