People will naturally blame Berbatov because his penalty looked very lazy and he's also quite unpopular amongst many fans (especially United ones) for his lack of work rate.
I dont agree with the people that say its lazy or that he's lazy in general/ It was just far too casual given the situation. Im sure he cares, but his style, or his nature, is obviously to try and do everything laid back, but he fucked this up big style. If he was trying to wait for the keeper to move and then pick the other direction it couldnt have gone worse..I agree with what TS said about it being a fine margin between "shittest penalty ever" and "oh god how cool was he there" but I would've thought at 0-0 in a semi final shoot out, with the chance to take the lead..you would go with the percentages and blast it.
I think people will naturally blame the striker who cost £30m came on for half an hour after the rest of the side had battled and fluffed his lines by not striking the ball properly from 12 yards.
Say what you like about Rio but he hit it hard, went for a corner and the keeper saved it. Berbatov was very much ill advised in his choice.
Yep it's a common penalty taking technique. If you remember, Mendieta he had a similar technique and i think he had a pretty good record but i do remember him missing one in a shootout for you lot. I havn't watched the pen again but it looks like he tried to put it down the middle and it drifted to his left slightly which meant it was an easy save for Howard. I think Vucinic did a similar thing against Arsenal yet he wasn't blamed as much as Berba is.
See my reply to Glenn on my thoughts on Rio's pen. In the end, both pens were misses so saying one was better than the other is pretty irrelevant.
