Zidane is humble. In galacticos era, the liga was stronger without doubt, hence it's strange speculation. Great players were playing around that time. Now we have "very good" players. The current crop of footballers wouldn't match the skill and ability of some of the "very good" players in that era.

Why is this even up for debate
Barcelona has whopped as in a time where their only competition is the weakest Real Madrid side I have seen in quite some time even worse then Capellos team I would almost say. If Barcelona wins the Champions league then perhaps but that is still but one year while Real Madrid dazzled for several years against the best while competing in a better league. I think Rijkaards side is even better then this current one to be honest. At the moment they don't have anybody to make magic like Ronaldinho.

Worst of all, Henry plays in place of Dinho. And Messi is worse c*nt than Guily.

This Barcelona side must first outplay the strong CL sides before it's even compared to the galaticos Madrid. That team outclassed the likes of ManU and Bayern while in their prime in the CL. Not even Dinho's Barcelona could do that in their CL win, where they stumbled to the final with a marginal win against Milan (where they were lucky due to a Schevchenko goal not counted) and struggled to beat a 10-man Arsenal in the final, where Almunia gifted them 2 goals. They even struggled beating Benfica in the previous rounds.
But it's typical of cules to be spouting such nonsense before they even achieve anything. It's in their peasant catalan genes. And I don't mean Zidane's comments (where he doesn't even say what the title of the threat suggests), but numerous catalan newspapers have named this the best Barcelona team of all time, and even the best football team of all time

Even if they do it doesn't necessarily make them better. When the galacticos played there were teams like Valencia, Real Sociedad, Betis, Deportivo, Celta etc. all pushing the top teams. It was too tough to win the double, let alone the treble. Though if Del Bosque had given a few more seasons I think he would have achieved it.

In the original article he is not quoted as saying this Barcelona is better than the galactico Madrid, rather it is alluded to due to the fact that Zidane says we should look to imitate Barcelona's current model.

When the Galacticos were around, the English teams weren't half as good at the stifling game they can pull off in Europe now. So neither have coped with it really.

Kas, if EPL teams are so good at it, why don't all the games between them end 0-0?

Surely a negative manager like Benitez would always take a 0-0 away from home if he could?
They just know how to defend against Barcelona.

Not in the league he wouldn't. Or maybe he used to, but has learnt that's not acceptable any more.
In the CL, we saw what both Mourinho and Benitez used to. And we saw what lineup Ferguson put out against Arsenal. Doesn't take too large a stretch of imagination to predict their likely tactics till the Gibbs slip made it all irrelevant anyway.
But yes, all of them bar Arsenal have pretty much learnt how to beat Barça's style.

I've said all season parking the bus against Man U is suicide. Liverpool over the last few months have been getting better at dealing with it as well. Arsenal used to have more problems with it, but with Adebayor they managed to adapt better to it, Wenger seems to be losing the plot though.
I think Liverpool would only try to play that way against Chelsea now, purely because they rely on Drogba on the counter too much.

Come on Professor. That era had many special players at their peak for many clubs. Look at most of the players in most CL teams, and compare the technical ability of the opposition.

I don't want to piss on Barca's night but if I have to say something it is that Barcelona won a much worse league and in the last few years I haven't seen a single time in which Barcelona has won when the other teams in the league weren't in shambles. Mind you I followed football around 2000 so I can't comment on their wins before that. The Professor wrote:Who's better?

It's not Barça's fault, we can only beat what's in front of us. And Chelsea apart, we destroyed everything this season.
You could say that it's because of how well Barça do that Madrid are forced and pressured into their stupid decisions and desperate transfers, thus making themselves look worse.
Maybe we should tell Laporta and Txiki to clone themselves and help run other clubs properly as well

IMO this Barca is perhaps a better team, whereas the Real Galacticos where superior man-to-man. If they play each other, it will be close, but my money will be on this Barca.

Any coincidence with worst Milan team (they didn't even make it to CL), worst Real Madrid team, worst Bayern munich sides in recent past? Most of the big clubs are rebuilding. Not like the 96-03 when many great footballers (golden generation of France, golden generation of Portugal, great players of Italy, Brazil, etc) were playing. Just give it time, we will see a more competent CL.
