Hatem Ben Arfa claims that his ex-employers Lyon offered him to Real Madrid when he was due to sign with Marseille, in order to earn more profit and possibly for rivalry reasons.

The France international secured his move to L’OM on Wednesday, after snubbing OL’s first training days.

The misfit has expressed his relief to have put pen to paper with the Velodrome outfit and revealed that Lyon ‘sent’ Real representatives in order to make the deal collapse.

“For me Lyon is over,” he told OMTV. “It’s the end of the road, a changed was needed.

“Lyon directors sent people from Real Madrid while I was signing with Marseille to rush me to sign there because it was financially better for them, and because of plenty of things.

“But my heart told me to come here. I had a deep desire to come here. I don’t have any regret. To the contrary, that’s a relief.

“Life’s made of risks, you have to be able to take ones and follow your principles.”

Former AshGold player, Daniel Opare is relishing a huge breakthrough in the Real Madrid team where he currently plies his trade.

The 17-year- old former Black Starlets defender who was transferred from the Obuasi club to Real Madrid immediately after the world under-17 championships in South Korea last year, is hoping to gain promotion into the senior side of the Rosoneri notwithstanding the opposition.

Opare who will turn 18 in October has been a revelation for the reserve side of Real after first playing for the junior side.

He is confident to rub shoulders with star players Sergio Ramos and Pepe for the right full back position when he gains promotion to the first team.

Opare, widely regarded as the best defender at the FIFA U17 World Cup, told some journalists that his main vision is to become a first team member of Real Madrid, arguably the best club in the world.

“I know I am capable of making it big at Real because I have been working hard for it”.

Recognized by World Soccer Magazine as one of the 50 Most Exciting Teenagers on the Planet in their November 2007 Issue, young Opare received rave reviews for using his incredible pace and precision crossing to great effect for the Black Starlets at the 2007 U-17 World Cup.

His form convinced former Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy to include him in his 34-man Black Stars squad for the Nation’s Cup in Ghana this year but injury forced the defender out of the competition

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid goalkeeper Jordi Codina admits he's on his way to Benfica.

Benfica have already raided Real for midfielder Javier Balboa and will soon close a deal for keeper Codina.

The youngster revealed: "I look forward with confidence the prospect of playing for Benfica."

Post by Jaime Thu Jul 03, 2008 4:53 pm

Note I posted in the old thread on the preseason calendar:

That would be nice to do that again! Im sure they will win the league again, but I want them to be succesful in Europe again, otherwise this will be the same Madrid as in the mid 80's. They also need to become more consistant, and play better!

Players that need to f@ck of IMO:
    Dudek
    Salgado
    Metzelder
    Diarra
    Sneijder
    Baptista

agreed except of course with midget and i think Metzelder has to stay because we dont really have too much back up in that department.

So the squad we will prob end up with for next season:

    -------------Casillas/Codina?---------------

    Ramos/Torres/Opare?---Pepe/Metzelder---Cannavaro/Heinze---Marcelo

    ----------Gago/DLR----Diarra/Garcia--------

    ---------------Sneijder/Granero/Guti-------------

    -----Raul/Higuain--Ruud/?-----Robinho/Robben/Drenthe

    Defence B
Our starting defence is quite good where there is only questions about Marcelo being able to be more consistent. in terms of depth we are looking to run into the same problems as last year. when one of our first Cbs are out we have a drop of quality. Ramos has to be able to play right back only instead of being moved because we cant replace when he isnt on right back.

    Midfield A
This is where we have improved the most and it has been without even spending a dime.Granero,DLR,Javi Garica are 3 different type of players that will both challenge the starting midfielders. very smart moves as we now have Granero can also play on the wings. DLR can easily challenge Gago and in best case play next to him.

    Attack B+
We are pretty much said here except a replacement for Ruud. Soldado would have been fine really but that aint gonna happen. Higuain showed towards the end of last season that we have our replacement for Raul and he could even challenge him this year.we will have a real problem next year if we dont get someone instead of Ruud. Villa is the dream but i dont think it will happen anymore.

I dont think we will get Ronaldo because Man utds valuation of him. im hoping it will stay this way because i cant really see what he would add to the team that we dont already have. if we had to get a winger it should be Joaquin so we can play a 4-4-2 or a real 4-3-3.

Spanish daily Marca reports that Robinho could terminate his contract with Real Madrid under the Webster ruling, with the club being entitled to compensation amounting to a mere 10 million euros...
»Comments Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom The Brazilian star, who moved to the Spanish capital club from Santos in 2005, still has two years left in his contract with the Merengues.

However, Robinho is understood to be unhappy at Santiago Bernabéu ever since Real Madrid considered him for a player-plus-clash deal for Manchester United's in-demand Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Robinho, who is being courted by Chelsea new boss, Luiz Felipe Scolari, may well terminate his contract with Real Madrid without just clause under the Webster ruling.

According to Article 17 of FIFA's transfer regulations, any player who signs a deal when aged under 28 is able to unilaterally break that contract after just three years.

Marca believes that, should Robinho terminate his contract with Real Madrid, a compensation of just €10 million will have to be paid to the club.

Earlier this summer, FC Porto midfielder Paulo Assunção decided to break his contract with the Portuguese Champions and he is now on the verge of completing a move to Atletico Madrid.

vvvv unlikely, Robinho seems to want to stay. But how would you feel if you were being used as Bait to land a fucktard like CR?

Opare will definitely be at Castilla. He's still not even 18 (according to his birth certificate Wink ) and hasn't played a single game on the European continent. I don't share your confidence regarding the backline. Pepe has justified his price tag very nicely. Heinze can be very useful if he stays fit. I don't have any faith that Metzelder will stay fit. Cannavaro should have gone back to Italy. Instead we are persisting with him for another year when he hasn't been consistently good for the last two. And Marcelo is a big question mark. Maybe he'll be good, maybe he'll be a disaster. Impossible to say. Lot's of question marks IMO. In midfield we should be all set. The canteranos that have returned will add a lot, I think. Still no replacement for Ruud but other than that I think our attack is in pretty good shape.

I think we are alright at left back. I won't give Marcelo a full endorsement but between him, Heinze, and Torres (hopefully he recovers his 06/07 form!) I think it is ok. Right winger would be great if Schuster would play him but if he's not then there is no point. Centre forward is a must (DAVID VILLA) for me and I'd love to see us sell both Metzelder and Cannavaro and bring in a pair of central defenders.

I disagre regarding Cannavaro. untill around february he played very well and was quite consistent. i think around November he hadnt even gotten a yellow or something.problem with defence last season was that we constantly changed it around especially in centre. rutine is very important for the defence. i still think Metzelder should get a real chance to play his way into the team. we have to remember that before the Euros he has had barely played all season. the problem is more Heinze as i see it.

im very hopefull for Marcelo because when he got into the team in the start of last season he was much better defensively then i thought. his problem was more concentration and lack of experience. the problem as i see it with our defence is that we need our full backs to attack which works fine with Ramos-Marcelo but when one has been injuried or in Ramos' case moved to centre we have had Torres-Heinze and neither have been able to do much in attack. we dont have the correct replacements that Shusters system needs.

Players that need to f@ck of IMO:
    Dudek
    Salgado
    Metzelder
    Diarra
    Sneijder
    Baptista
    Saviola

I dont want Ronaldo to come though! He is gonna f@ck everything up! Although its nice to have an attack with all R's.
agreed except of course with midget and i think Metzelder has to stay because we dont really have too much back up in that department.

Definately looking close to the type of squad depth and potential quality (Robinho, Sneijder, Robben etc can all improve, Ramos, Casillas, Raul and Guti holding the values of the club etc)

One question, what would happen if Iker got injured? possibly one area of consideration, he certainly makes a huge difference and would put confidence in any defence - he'd be a major loss if he suffered a long term or persisant injury.

We would finish outside the top 4. not kidding because as long as i have seen not matter if we have dominated games like in the old days with galaticos or under Capello where we played very defensive we have always conceeded many chances and Saint Iker has saved our butts. our Cbs would really have to step up their game big time because defence in Real Madrid is the hardest place to play because they get no protection.
but i read we have a talent called Casilla(couldnt make it up) who is supposed ot be even better then Casillas and taller aswell.

Haha - IC hasn't even finished his career yet, how can a player be compared to him yet Laughing

Well its always good to know theres young talented players coming through - however like defenders they will always mature with age as concentration and positioning is pivotal.

Kiko Casilla was all hype! He actually went to Espanyol last season and is/was their third GK.

Codina looks to be solid if he stays around, although the real talent is Antonio Adan. He was Spain's goalkeeper at the U-20 World Cup last summer.

Juventus directors have flown to Madrid in order to launch a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe according to SportMediaset.

Reports in Italy claim that the Bianconeri are after the Los Merengues star and he could arrive in Turin as part of a loan deal.

Drenthe doesn’t seem as if he will enter Bernd Schuster’s plans for next season and Juve are ready to pounce.

It is believed that Ramon Calderon is not willing to sell the player but the Old Lady will be looking to take him on loan and SportMediaset claims Drenthe could be on his way to Serie A as early as next week as Bianconeri officials are already in Madrid to hold talks with the Santiago Bernabeu side.

The Bianconeri are currently looking for a midfielder for next season but so far they have failed to land their targets.

Drenthe would be a much easier option for the Turin based club and a loan move will suit both Real and the Italian giants.

The versatile midfielder can play in central midfield or out on the left wing and this would be an advantage for Claudio Ranieri as Drenthe would provide cover for Pavel Nedved to play in a more offensive role.

    Hands off!!!!

According to radio station Onda Cero, Real Madrid have reached a "principle of agreement" with Manchester United over the Portuguese star, who has been under the radar of the Merengues following a topnotch season at Old Trafford.

Although Manchester United are reluctant to part with Ronaldo, they prefer doing business for the 23-year-old rather than having one of their valuable pieces unhappy in their ranks.

It is understood that Ronaldo's transfer to Santiago Bernabéu will be officialized in the next few days and will involve a fee in the region of 90 million euros, thus becoming the most expensive transfer fee in football history, if confirmed.

The 2007/08 European Golden Shoe award winner, who joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in 2003 for a fee of €15 million, scored a total of 42 goals for The Red Devils last season.

So it's "take it or leave it". Seems to be the trend nowadays with journalists getting bored of this summer's transfer sagas.

Ronaldo is 85m, "take it or leave it".

Adebayor is 30m pounds, "take it or leave it".

Barry is 15m pounds, "take it or leave it".

    £67M, is quite a lot.

Although we're good at selling players we're rubbish at buying them and always pay over the odds, Calderon should only go up to £55M ok
