    Real Madrid - Barca. What's gonna happen? Empty Real Madrid - Barca. What's gonna happen?

    Post by Torrente Mon Oct 16, 2006 9:16 pm

    Less than a week till the best club match in the world takes place. What are people's expectations? I'm specially interested in the neutrals' views.

    Barca fans are probably expecting to sodomize us on Sunday, perhaps even worse than last time. Most Madrid fans are probably expecting the same. Personally, I think that if we line up like this we stand a chance:

    .................................................Casillas.......................................

    .........Salgado/Mejia............Ramos............Cannavaro................RC

    ..................................Diarra.........................Guti.......................

    ...........Robinho...........................Raul..........................Reyes........

    .................................................RVN..........................................

    Hopefully Cannavaro will be out of his bad spell by then and Van Nistelrooy will stop missing so many sitters. With Reyes and Robinho in, I can see them causing a lot of problems for the Barca defense. The problem is that Capello hasn't used this lineup once so far this season. Can they gel in tme for the Barca game?

    If Capello plays the doble pivote with Diarra and Emerson, we might as well start bending over. I can see Barca running circles around us. I'm also expecting that Capello won't have the balls to leave out both Beckham and Emerson, so we might end up with Emerson out but with Beckham on the right fucking up every cross and hitting long balls every time he gets the ball in our own half.

    Of course, the fact that Eto'o isn't playing is a big plus, but we're so bad at the moment that this might not even factor in.

    I definately think Real have every chance at the weekend. Do you have any odds for the game Torrente? I would personally make Real slight favourites. Barca - Eto'o is not a great side in my opinion, but the damage they can cause even without him is still massive, just look at Sunday. Ronaldinho looks to be back in form after his two goals, which is definately bad news for Real, but I just can't see a repeat of last seasons collapse for you, have confidence!

    Ronaldinho's return to form is definitely a worrying sign, but contrary to popular belief, he hasn't always played great against us. He was horrible the time we beat Barca in Camp Nou 2 years ago and even worse last year when it ended 1-1. He took 20 dives around the box and 20 free kicks and didn't come close to scoring a single one.

    I haven't lost all faith because the clasicos are games apart from what's going on in the season, but I'm definitely very worried. What worries me the most is Capello's current stubborness. We'll see if he grows a pair of balls by next sunday Cool

    Was Saturday really that bad then Torrente? I have seen nothing of the game apart from the goal that was poor marking it has to be said.

    People have short memories though. Ronaldinho performances against Real will only be judged by last seasons performance. He wills till be on a high from going to the Bernabeu last time.

    Ronaldinho might play rubbish, but if he does some magic like he did in Madrid last season ...

    madrid will be up for it thats for sure, but are they good enough? i dont think they are good enough to win but they might scrape a draw. If madrid play robinho and reyes they will have some pace to worry barca but if those two sit on the bench and beckham and raul play i fear madrid may take a beating.

    Madrid is going to win this one cheers At least I hope so, will make the competition a lot more exciting. Barca and Valencia competing for title is a bit boring. Barca is clearly the favourite, but they will have a tough match against Chelsea first. So let's hope they are a bit tired for the "Superclassico" <Ale>

    Torrente, no way in hell am I expecting us to "sodomize" you. Clasico is a clasico, form counts for nothing. And I think I mentioned on Saturday or Sunday after the Getafe game - I'm actually a little more worried because I'm afraid we may be the ones facing your league backlash.

    Obviously we are strong favourites, and I do fancy our chances because of our form and your poor play, but I still think it'll be a very tough game. As long as our performance is good I'll honestly take a draw - it's an away game after all.

    The game couldn't have gone any worse. I won't get into it here but the fact that even Casillas said it was one of the worst games he can remember should say it all. Even the ultra positive Roberto Carlos kept his mouth shut this time.

    @Batman

    That wouldn't be a bad formation, but the thing is that there's no way Capello will change the doble pivote for the Barca game. Especially now that Ronaldo is out of the game. Hence, that's a very unrealistic formation.

    @kasnani

    It's true that the clasicos are games apart altogether. Even when you guys when in your big slump, the clasicos were very close games. While at the moment we don't have the team cohesion, maybe the players' spirits will bring out a result. Capello's teams are known to be "warriors". We haven't seen this so far but Sunday would be a great day to start.

    Neutral view:

    I think Madrid will win it. Barca will have their mind on the Chelsea game and Eto'o will be sorely missed.

    I think madrid look a lot more solid this season and I think as Well that despite Dinho's game on Saturday he is still a bit off form

    I just watched highlights of our 3-0 at the Bernabeu last year, and one thing's for sure - if we do win, it definitely won't be due to goals like you conceded last year. All 3 of those were due to HUGE amounts of space between your midfield and defence. That's one thing at least that Capello has fixed perfectly, and with the two DMs patrolling we'll have to work much harder to score. The key for us this time will be to spread it wide and attack your fullbacks.

    Yeah but that's they key - those two DM's will protect your defence and close down our space. We have to get past them to be dangerous.

    Those two DM's is the worst thing that could happen to Madrid IMO. Why the hell do you need sch a defensive lineup. It doesn't help at all to the creation of the game and the good movement of the ball by those players of RM who actually know how to play football.

    But who knows maybe we'll see something similar to what happened during Heynckes era and see the players take over?...I'm sure the team would play better

    I agree with Barrillete. While Kasnani makes a good point, we might actually experience worse problems this time because with Diarra and Emerson in the doble pivote, we get the ball out of our half in slow motion. It's true that we played very well last night, but that had to do with the fact that Bucharest rarely pressured us on the ball. It will be completely different against Barca. Last time we had trouble getting out of our own half with an offensive lineup, with Emerson and Diarra it could be even worse.

    Nevertheless, last year Luxemburgo made the mistake of playing too many unfit players in the starting lineup. Ronaldo and Guti were just coming back from an injury and weren't fit and Pablo Garcia was completely jetlagged from playing 4 days earlier in Australia. The Barca players were doing 10 times as much running as our players. If Robinho and Reyes start, I'm sure Barca will experience some problems, even if Emerson plays which is nearly a certainty.

    I think he`s playing the two def mids cos the defence doesnt convince him yet. Teams still make lot of chances against us. When he gets the defence the way he wants it i doubt he will play with two def mids.

    BTW: Yesterday the two def mids played really well.
