Post by toon h Fri May 08, 2009 8:28 pm

recently saw an article from last December from 4-4-2's top 100 players. I decided to make my own top 50. I would be happy to hear different opinions, though.

    1.Ronaldo
    2.Messi
    3.Kaka
    4.Gerrard
    5.Essien
    6.Ribery
    7.Villa
    8.Xavi
    9.Ferdinand
    10.Torres
    11.Casillas
    12.Lampard
    13.Rooney
    14.Arshavin
    15.Ibrahimovic
    16.Iniesta
    17.Vidic
    18.Buffon
    19.Robben
    20.Drogba
    21.Totti
    22.Maicon
    23.Eto'o
    24.Carvalho
    25.Nesta
    26.Terry
    27.Evra
    28.Benzema
    29.Aguero
    30.Cesc
    31.Sergio Ramos
    32.Robinho
    33.Di Rossi
    34.Alves
    35.Van Persie
    36.Tevez
    37.Chivu
    38.Forlan
    39.Henry
    40.Carragher
    41.Diego
    42.Toure Yaya
    43.Pepe
    44.Del Piero
    45.Ballack
    46.Mascherano
    47.Carrick
    48.Silva
    49.Cambiasso
    50.Pato

I must say, I have considered mostly this season but also let historical data weigh in a little.

Your list is a joke. Some of the players were either injured, or woefully out of form. Cesc, Carvalho, Sergio Ramos, Nesta. wtf? lol!

why is my list a joke? You don't think Cesc, Carvalho, Sergio Ramos and Nesta are among the greatest players in the world? Purely because they had some injuries this year?

Henry is too low, its a joke he is below Aguero and Benzema.

What have they ever done, they are both hype. Henry has 26 goals this season, more than most strikers.

To say Aguero is hype is a bit silly. The kid (and he is a kid, just 20 years old) has scored 20 in all competitions.

I know the Arsenal fans will defend Henry to the death but there have really been only a handful of matches where he has really been outstanding in la Liga.

Yeah he may turn out to be very good, but seeing as Toon has also taken the past into account, then there is no way Aguero can be higher than Henry.

Carragher one place behind Henry made me laugh

The top ten is ok if you take Ribery out and replace him with the forehead. No point us bickering over the order though.

On that point unless Milan revamp the squad then I think Kaka needs to leave because he is entering his peak and needs to come back and show why he deserves to be the worlds best player.

I can't see where he would go to be honest unless it is Real Madrid. Chelsea might be a possibility but otherwise he doesn't have many clubs that could afford him and need him.

It's a shame because not many teams line up in the formation that suits Kaka. Just a couple youthful players and they're ready to go again.

They're like Arsenal but only on the older scale Laughing

Do you watch Bayern? Ive read countless posts from bundesliga posters slamming ribery, calling him hype or overated, flat track bully...and this is in the bundesliga. Hell he might not even win the leageu with bayern. how is this guy number 6?

Kaka two seasons ago had a great 10 games not season Ale

But i think toon's list is pretty good. Just a few small ones disagree with. Carragher is not among the top 50 in the world. and ribery is not top 20

Regarding Kaka. He was better in the 2004-5 season when they lost the CL to Liverpool but the season he won WPOTY he was also very good and was always apparent in the big games.

If we go on your 10 great games then I don't think Ronaldo has ever had a great season Whistle

I didn't have Carragher at first and had Ashley Cole in but then thought that I needed another Liverpool player and Carragher was the obvious choice. After all, they have a very good and organized defence. Someone must be responsible for that apart from Benitez.

Benitez is the main reason. Carragher was excellent, he now isn't.

I think Ancelotti prefers a 4-3-2-1 for defensive security aswell which is why Berlu at one point ordered him to start playing with two strikers again. However I agree that the lack of strikers has to do with it now at least. Anyway I hope Milan get their act together so we can see Kaka get back on his throne allthough I wouldn't mind if Ribery takes over. Smile
