Oh how many times we hit the bar that game The Lampard left foot strike in extra time, the Drogba thunderbolt from outside the area.S4P wrote:3 FA Cups in 4 seasons isn't bad too.
Almost got himself a Champions League medal too. If only his shot had gone in off the bar

If Vidic hadn't been such a pussy, it would have been Drogba taking that penalty and not John Terry
United only had two chances as well, the Ronaldo goal and then the appalling Giggs miss at the end. And we should have had a penalty as well for Ferdinand's "challenge" on Joe Cole.S4P wrote:We scored in the first half lerd, so I don't understand how that could have been 5-0?

He's gone, it's official, Michael Ballack has left Chelsea for good. Before he went everyone was discussing the pro's and con's of keeping the German in the squad but now he's gone it feels kinda sad.
We've been watching the master quietly win us over for 4 years in which he won all domestic trophies with us. Let's take a second to look back at the man's contributions and reminisce the good and bad times.
Ballack signed for us on a free transfer on 15th May 2006, choosing us over Real Madrid, Barcalona ,AC Milan and Manchester United. The then coach of Bayern said they'd let a £30million man slip for free. (30 then is like 60 now since clubs have started mad sprees where unproven kids like Aguero and Pato are quoted at 40, prove yourself at the grandest stages first, then talk big, sorry feel strongly on the subject, perhaps one for another day).
He and Sheva became the first mega-marquee names to join us and confirmed the new era of Chelsea had well and truly kicked off. His start was slow as he failed to get himself going for his first year, scoring his first goal in a Champions League tie against Werder Bremen.
He went on to make 45 appearances that year with 8 goals, as we won both Carling and FA Cup (he scored the winner in the semi against Blackburn) but narrowly missed out on the league.
His second year with the blues was plagued by injuries as he missed more than half the season with an ankle problem. In this time, out went Jose and in came Grant. Ballack returned, become the key player of Grant's short reign as he scored several winners at our club record equalling 9 wins in a row.
He then went on to inspire Chelsea in the Champions League with round of 16 and quarter-final winners, followed by stellar performances against Liverpool in the semi's and Manu in the final. He even scored his penalty in the final, wait lets not go there.
In the Premier League he carried us on his shoulders as we won game after game and his amazing brace and MOTM performance against United sent us level with them. Sadly the season still ended trophyless... if only by an inch.
Season three was a year of consistency and a general lack of goals from the man as the Chelsea ship began to sink, saved only by the late arrival of an angel by the name of Guus.
Ballack had been solid throughout the year and helped win the FA Cup. His final season was one in which he featured regularly for Carlo and made 34 starts in 38 Premier League games as we went on to win the title.
A solid rock at the heart of our midfield Ballack both attacked and defended admirably as he ended the season with both FA Cup and Premier League winners medals.
While many belittle the importance of Michael this season (one person in an earlier post even claimed we won inspite of him), well I need only say that Essien's lost would have blown us away but for Ballack.
We played most fluently when he was in front of the back four and when we were desperate for a goal or a moment he came through. The fact that we never missed the Bison or Obi in their absences is a testament to his coverup skills. If I were to sum up Ballack's time with us in a few words I would say this,
'Consistent, Hard working and with that little spark that all champions have of doing the sublime'
Sad as it is that he didn't get to be a European Champion (club/internationally) we can only thank him for his commitment to the blues and wish him love and luck for his journeys ahead.
Thank you Michael... we will always revere you and you are always welcome at the Bridge.
Please take the time to check out this video, it's awesome!

What makes you think that Drog would beat Vds on penalty?

VDS was no better than Cech in that shootout. Both saved 1 of the 7 penalties they faced (both very poor shots - the first by Ronaldo, the second by Anelka).
Drogba scored in a penalty shootout against Man Utd (admittedly not against VDS but I doubt he would have saved it) this season.

It's a shame he doesn't take more (has anyone ever seen him miss a penalty?)
