60k a week for a few years plus the 6 mil.

4 years @ 120k/week = 24.5m

4 years @ 60k/week = 12.25m + 6m = 18.25m

a bit of a saving...

BUT if it was say 3 years @ 100k/week = 15.6m

3 years @ 60k/week = 9.4m + 6m = 15.4m

Yup. It's all a bit back-of-an-envelope as we can only guess the figures.. Probably is a wage-saving move overall. As J.Cole was no longer first choice, makes sense to have someone on less wages for that role..

It doesn't help much with their ageing squad problem though..

If we haven't got much money this year then selling Benyanoon is a good move - we need the money for first team players, especially as we're starting fucking Lucas. Benyanoon may be creative but he's not that good, he's alright, but hardly a Chelsea standard player. I'll take the £6million thankyou very much.

Worth keeping Yossi imo he is worth more than £6m they should have kept him, im surprised Chelsea in for him though makes me think they dont want to spend that much....Roman trying to save to make them break even.

Essien scored the only goal. Hopefully he will actually stay fit for more than 10 games this season, otherwise it'll be a real struggle to defend the title and be real contenders for the Champions League (his absence against Inter Milan last season made that only too noticeable).

lies.com (goal) reckons chelsea will pay best part of 50M for two brazilians (luiz and ramires) from benfica. ive not seen enough of them to really comment but if luiz joins that will be the end of rikki who will head off to real. ramires will be replacing ballack/deco i guess.

just add a small and quick quality-striker (aguero/pato) and its all systems go for the title defence!

I am really excited to see how Malouda turns out this season, and hoping Zhirkov gets to play further up the field more with the removal of Joe Cole.

Real can fuck off if they think they're getting Ashley Cole. But if they really want him then we should be demanding the same outrageous values that Pool/Arsenal fans are asking for Torres/Cesc: £50million + Van der Vaart

Cole is a damn good left back no matter what you think of his personal life. That shouldn't even come into it but it's what I see him getting the most hate for. I think he probably has two years before we look to replace him.. They should really let a youngster get a few games in so the transistion is smooth. Not sure if Van Aanholt is quite ready though, to be honest, though he is good - and in the Dutch U21s

Ancellotti's English is really quite good now, much better than Capello or Manci's.

Ancelotti continues to impress with his philosophy of attacking from the first minute until the last. He's also not been afraid to make us play aggressively in some of the big matches (e.g. Man Utd, Inter and Arsenal away last season). But I wonder how brave he will be with his tactics when we inevitably draw Barcelona in the Champions League.

Poor punch from Cech for the West Ham goal, but you'll see goalkeepers make a poor punch in almost every game and get away with it. That was some finish from Parker.

Zilina away next. Don't know anything about them, but given our Premier League form I'll be disappointed if we don't come away with a win.

Bosingwa looked exceptional on his return. Although it was only Wolves at home, a performance like that after such a long injury lay off was brilliant to see. I'd still rather see Ivanovic switched to RB for when we have to cope with opponents like Gareth Bale.
