Bocchetti, Tomovic, Criscito & Motta perhaps... but then, I know italy's players much better than I do Serbia's.

özil should play in his main role, in the midfield, hes wasted as striker, sometimes he comes from the midfield, but thats not enoguh, he played shit in most games

maybe a free role for him

Kroos should have been in this squad. He can score more goals than Dejagah. After the u21 euro is over Kroos and Holtby should be in the u21 team. Too many players are being played out of position. Germany's best players have been Boateng and Hoewedes. The attack is very poor.

AFAIK Kroos and Holtby are supposed to play the U20-WC later this year where we would have good chances to win the trophy with them. But playing two tournaments within a few months is too much for them.

Also, if one of them were a target striker who could solve our forward problem, I'd even inclined to agree with you, but as things are I am not convinced that any of them would have helped to alleviate this lack of class up front.

Tbh, I don't understand why people are so disappointed by our performances. We already sucked during the qualification. Why should it be different now? I for one am happy that we survived the group stages, that's more than I was expecting; and as soon as you reach the knock-out stages everything is possible. Smile

Also its 3-1 to Sweden vs Serbia.

Good game, an efficient performance by Italy - but not brilliant. Bocchetti & Marchisio were the picks of the day for me.

Bocchetti has been coming to his own in the last 12 months, he gives some hope that the age of the great Italian CB's may not be over yet. I am so glad that he is playing at Genoa, and not one of the top 3-4 clubs. (Andreolli's career took a downturn coz he was just sitting on Inter and Roma's bench in his formative years. But now, playing regularily in Serie B with Sassuolo, he is also regaining his confidence). But Bocchetti looks good, and if this doesn't get him a spot in the Azzurri, then Lippi is an idiot.

Marchisio was very good yesterday as well, pity he got that booking and will miss the semi's. But Balotelli will be back.

To see how he does against English defenders? Ajax play Sunderland in the Amsterdam tournament this summer, so probably they want to ensure they can at least win one trophy this season Wink

Edit: on a serious note, I'm pretty sure they don't need 5 people to watch/scout him. I think that delegation may be going there to have talks and try to sign a deal for him asap before bigger and/or richer clubs in Europe take notice.

They'll have no problems making deals with the player, it's the club they will have a hard time negotiating with....and as far as I know Groningen is still located in the Netherlands Wink

Yeah, that wouldn't be surprising. Germany may be having issues scoring, but they are quite strong otherwise. Italy vs Germany will be a very tough game to call, with both sides unbeaten so far, a draw after 90 minutes will not be surprising. That said, the talent in the Italian side is more balanced, so they do have a slight edge.

Eng vs Swe is easier to call. The Swedes are riding the home advantage wave, but when they came up against a quality team (Italy), the difference in strength was obvious. On top of that, the swedes play quite an open game, which will play nicely into England's hands if they can handle Berg. I will be surprised if England don't make the final.

I first chose gibbs, but then I really liked Micah's performance against finland. He deserved a spot, just like Motta deserves it over Criscito. Its a best XI, lets not get too bothered about formation. Ozil & Giovinco are also out of position.
