van de Bergh has always been a troublemaker! Coutinho sure has something for him to relax!

If ADO manage a 2-2 with 9 men, it will be a decent result..though again 0-2 up!

Observations based on the Jong Oranje - England U21 match :

Leroy Fer is (as expected) a good player ok

We actually had a *very* good central defending block in Erik Pieters and Rens van Eijden.

Never noticed van Eijden before, but he's got my attention now Smile

I finally understand why Fey and JdG never warmed to Biseswar : he was gash, worst player on the pitch by a country mile Shocked

Not only was he poor, he was also *utterly* clueless.

I finally understand what Since1888 sees in Emnes : took him 10-15 minutes to get into the game, after that he was our main threat (needs to work on his endproduct though) ok

Talking about endproduct : that Arsenal kid (Nazarete or something like that) had the ball glued to his feet, but overhit every pass by at least 10 meters Shocked No endproduct whatsoever and thus completely useless...

The one player who kept launching Emnes (either deep or in short combinations) was Siem de Jong. When he was playing central in midfield in a kind of Alonso position he was ace, whenever he played further away from our goal (ended up as striker a couple of times, just like MvB misused him) he lost it.

Siem really should get more first team action. Hope Groningen buys him Smile

Krul didn't have anything to do, so can't say anything about him.

Last but not least : those English youth players are incredibly overhyped. Cattermole and Wilshire didn´t look like they would even make Jong Oranje Shocked

They got to the final of the euros Axe

I wouldn't place too much weight on an U21 away friendly.

Wilshere is 17 and looked very impressive playing for Arsenal against two good teams a week ago. Skilful players do better when they have quality around them. They were also friendlies but you can tell when someone has talent.

Don't know a lot about Cattermole. He strikes me as a Van Bommel type player

Cattermole looks like a combination of a tank and a headless chicken, so I kind of get the Von Bommel comparison.

Positional awareness and a bit of football intellect are crucial for that position...and I couldn't detect that in Cattermole, whilst Von Bommel (for all his other shortcomings) displayed that from a very young age.

This is a very poor Jong Oranje jaargang (vintage ?), a half decent young England should have crushed them....instead we were actually the better team (the English were physically far superior to our players, we played better football though).

You can have a "lesser" game, but you can't disguise quality....or so I believe Wink

Dutch is great, must be so easy to learn for English speakers (and vice versa, as we can see with Dutch footballers and coaches). Lost count of the number of times I put on a Dutch stream, and it still takes me a few minutes to confirm it's really not English.

Dutch is quite hard to learn, especially for English people. Even though Dutch is the closest language to English. Scandinavians seem to learn it very fast.

Though this team of the late 80's arent as talented as the current ones of the late 80's it wont say everything. The real talents hardly ever play for the U21 since they will go straight to the seniors. The early 90's ones are much more talented though.

Anyway watched a bit of it last night, was a crap game I thought. That Bruma guy impressed me the most, he was always one of the most talented ones at Feyenoord but thought we would never hear from him again in the future now he is at Chelsea. Krul looked very mature as well. It was bad but then again it's the first time they played together.

    @axe

Biseswar is just clueless, reminds me of Quincy. Some great individual moves on their day, but making wrong decisions all the time. Fer will be demand by all big clubs in the not too distant future. Real 21st century midfield powerhouse, scores too (times his runs well, great header).
