I think he's absolutely fair in everything he says. Probably only made a mistake by saying it while he (and Beckham) are still teammates, because it will create tension in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Really? Suggesting that Beckham doesn't train or play hard? If there is one thing that Beckham does is work hard.

He has a certain point - the fact that Beckham's priority is to attach himself to a European club to be in contention for a World Cup place next summer.

However this article smacks of jealousy, Beckham is the consumate professional, trains hard, plays hard.

Is Donovan jealous that Beckham earns more than him? in his own words yes.

Is Donovan jealous that Beckham has top European clubs interested in his services, almost certainly yes.

Is Donovan jealous that Beckham is more famous than he? being a hot shot striker, no doubt he desires the limelight, then yes.

The quicker Beckham can leave the joke league behind him, the better.

The one thing i agree on, is that Beckham's heart wants to be elsewhere, however in the meantime you can bet your bottom dollar he'll give 100% to the cause.

    Donovan :bitter:

The fact that he opted to play for LA Galaxy to me signalled that to him other things are more important than football. Which is a pity, because he can still play some decent footy.

In general I think Donovan should adress problems internally.

Beckham is a grossly ignorant, narcissistic c**t who has repeatedly let down his country.

Luckily for him approx 90% of England's male population have a homoerotic fixation with him and his failures are overlooked.

Eg - players like Pearce and Waddle are famous for one pen miss - Beckham has bottled the 4 biggest pens he has taken for his country (Turkey, Portugal, France and Argentina*) but is called a hero 'cos of one free kick v Greece.

    * Typical of him to insist he meant to put it down the middle when its an obvious fluke.

Well lets not forget he also scored a penalty against Turkey right?

Argentina he scored so to call it a bottle job is ridiculous he decided to smash it. Portugal and France i guess you could say so but at the end of the day he was never a penalty taker at any club he has been at. And he did truely slip on one fo them so you know not a bottle job on that occasion, why would eh choose to take the penalty if he was bottling it?

I'm not one for defending Beckham, but why do you think he has failed? Is he not talented enough, after being a success in England, Spain, and arguably Italy? Maybe he just moved to LA for the money and to get his wife a reality show? Maybe he turns up to training and for games, takes a look at jokers like Donovan and whatever other randoms they have there and thinks to himself "fuck, i wish i was in Milan right now"? Maybe, just maybe. <Ale>

France and Turkey were misses. Portugal you can see the problem with the ground around the penalty spot. You're right about Argentina.

Still, he did kick Simeone, which makes him a hero to me any day.

Beckham has cost England no doubt. But people love him because he does give everything he has tried his best and he was unfairly treated by some managers and many fans for a long period. But he got on with it and returned to play very well time and time again. How can you not respect a man who's won so many caps for such a country in this day and age. IMO it's his destiny to win the world cup.

Biggrin The bar is set really really low for an Englander playing abroad. Just playing games as starter constitutes SUCCESS in your eyes FFS! Ask them Milan fans how the team IMMEDIATELY cranked it up, started playing much better when Beckham was taken out of the games. Biggrin <Ale>

Admittedly your man had a good run of games late in his last season playing for Real Madrid- 5 to 7 matches- (in 4 seasons!), but then the title was gonna be lost in the last game of the season. He was REPLACED AND REAL MADRID IMMEDIATELY came back to win the game and the title with José Antonio Reyes of all people coming on for him! lol! <Ale>

I wasn't being serious. If you're going to kick someone, you might as well do a Keane.

Nonetheless, for all Beckham was idolised and hyped by the British press and a fair few fans he was a very good footballer, at least for a while, and remains a pretty good footballer even into his mid 30s. Awful choice of wife, naturally, but no one's saying he was John Kennedy.
