Bernd, you knows your stuff Ale

there are HUGE IFs about Marin

even I would reserve judgement for now

having said that , he is VERY lucky to play at BREMEN, where he enjoys the most stable environment in the Bundesliga

Werder is EXACTLY the right club for him

little side-note: IF Marin makes it BIG, your lover-boy Martin JOL has more EGGS on his face that Hungary produces in a year

Marin , apparently, had already agreed terms with HSV, when Jol put in his VETO, saying " I am NOT SURE he would play UNDER ME" Yikes

and they say Dutchies can spot a TALENT Laugh

    as for Özil:

Deisler is RIGHT to get excited about the lad

the SKY is the fucking LIMIT

    skill-, and more importantly, PERSONALITY-WISE

my only worry is that he will leave Werder NEXT season to move to Seria A where Juve and Co already got their vaults open

he should stay at Werder for THREE years, TWO at least Ale

and yes, Bernd, should you ask,

Of what I've seen, Marin looks very lightweight. His progress hasn't been as quick as I expect a lot of people were expecting?

Or was there too much hype to begin with? Probably the latter.

Ozil looks a special talent, my preference of the two:

so despite my tendencies to poke fun at you Jarmans,

even an Anglo-Gypsy such as myself can appreciate a good footballer, irrespective of nationality.

But then big things were expected of Podolski and Schweinsteiger. Neither has fulfilled that expectation.

Oh, and I presume you're referring to Wayne "10 goals in the last 8 International games" Rooney?

Or are you referring to Wayne "4 goals in 4 2009 EPL games" Rooney?

The Wayne Rooney who's played in 2 consecutive CL finals, and won 3 EPL league titles in a row? The Wayne Rooney who is currently the leading goalscorer in World Cup qualifiers in Europe, more prolific than Klose, Torres, Villa etc?

Then sure, you've certainly got plenty of foundation to claim Ozil is better than Rooney,

because, after all, Rooney is English Ale

    Re Marin.

He will come good, he is already looking very good, much earlier than me and most Werder fans expected to be honest. Werder is the right environment for him indeed. Schaaf will work on his weaknesses and he will improve just like Özil did before him. Özil is a far more complete player now than he was when he joined us over a year ago.

They are different kinds of players, but I believe both Marin and Özil to have the same level of potential. It remains to be seen who will make the most of it, hopefully both.

And long may they stay out of the clutches of evil (Bayern).

So often "big" teams can ruin talents (Podolski at Bayern)

In the case of Rooney, he just proved to be too goddam good to be ruined by United, despite Fergle insisting on playing him out on the left.

Ferguson has a relatively good record with young players, can't really compare it to the Bayern talent graveyeard.

Ironically, Bayern's youth academy is top notch, they keep producing a number of truly gifted players every year, but only very few of them seem to get a chance in their first team. And even if they manage to (more or less) establish themselves in the first team, e.g. Schweinsteiger, they seem to stagnate or even regress.

If you take a look at the squads of other Bundesliga teams, e.g. Wolfsburg and especially HSV, the leaders in the league atm, you'll see a number of former Bayern players, some of them from the Bayern youth even (e.g. Wolfsburg's Misimovic, or HSV's Trochowski, important key players of their respective clubs). So it's not because those players lack talent, it's because of the very difficult environment in München, for various reasons. Only very few players, if any, actually improve there - you should be an established player, a 'finished product', before you join FC Bayern München.

10G8G is the sole reason we will have any chance in WC2010. So of course he demands plenty of our attention.

You're a decent chap, but I'll play this one with a straight bat:

I wouldn't expect someone who claimed for years that Poldolski (then Klose, then Kuranyi, and then Gomez) was better, to understand Ale

Wijnaldum is like 3 years younger, but he already is further at his age then Ozil was when he was younger. And will most likely be better then Ozil as well. Very Happy

I picked De Guzman cause they are around the same age!

Fair enough, lets do a Wijnaldum v Ozil then, more compareble players anyway. Wijnaldum is younger, but Ozil plays in a bit of a better league.
