How bad is this Argentina side become at passing though? This was never going to be a pretty game, but my God compare this to the side of 2005-07, even of 08 to a lesser degree. Like chalk and cheese. In part down to tactics (or lack of) but also the personnel.

Oh my gosh!!! Argentina just won a World Cup!!!! Oooops, they just qualified there, barely. It's hard to guess looking at Maradona and Co. lol!

I would say - "give me back my money" - but fortunately I didn't spent any. What a disastrous game.

Never said Suarez is a bad player, he played shite. I mocked the youtube clip watcher for creaming himself over a player he's barely watched in games, and the time i have he's been terrible. Anyway im not sure it's bad news Argentina are in the world cup. Whoever made the playoffs has a chance of losing thats for sure.

You know where I have been

The first half was pretty bleak, Mexican wave central. It's not as dull as tv though because you can watch different elements of the game, not just where the ball is.

It was pretty busy, 75-80,000ish only the far flung high seats had empty patches. It must be pretty pointless watching the game from all the way up there anyway. Atmosphere was good, I have the post-concert style tinnitus that only Wembley and Anfield seems to give me.

Watched the first half of the Argentina game in the media lounge, it was awesome! Like a rude version of the Guardian podcast Very Happy

Two HUGE matches: Uruguay-Argentina and Chile-Ecuador

You go to the most RECENT AND RELEVANT opponent for BOTH!

Common denominator for Uruguay-Argentina match = Perú

    Perú 1-0 Uruguay (in Lima)

Argentina 1-2 Perú (in Buenos Aires, let's be real here, with any other ref besides Bolivian Ortubé, Perú wins 1-2, Palermo goal was offsides and two PK's for Perú not called!) Important in handicapping games to call out them refs!

THUS, Uruguay 0-0 Argentina a DRAW!

Common denominator for Chile-Ecuador match = Uruguay

Ecuador 1-1 Uruguay (in Quito, again the ref gifted Uruguay a PK in 93m, the 'correct' score without ref intervention is 1-1 and not the 'official' 1-2 Uruguay road win, very important!)

    Chile 0-0 Uruguay (in Santiago)

THUS, Chile 0-0 Ecuador a DRAW!

celebrations were understandable, when we scraped though with that 2-2 at home to Greece a few years ago there were similar scenes

Argentina surely need a new coach for the finals though. Sven would do it.
