The World Cup draw thread!

Lots of us have that problem. I'm dashing off to the pub from my office and hope the preamble is as long-winded as possible...

Well there will be a big delay for sure, and it will most likely be a Mandela black people wankfast before they start the actual draw I'll be suprised if Africans run something on time so we will all be able to watch the actual draw.

I'm not too bothered with the qualification process. The SA format is more difficult than Africa in my opinion. For me Uruguay have better players. Cameroon is the only African team that I can see doing any thing in the WC tbh.

Dismiss Uruguay at your own peril. They generally do well enough against European sides, and with Forlan, Suarez, Godin, Caceres, Cavani, Rodriguez, Muslera, Gargano, they definitely don't lack talent.

They're not a great side, but certainly shouldn't be taken lightly. If nothing else, they're very, very physical.

They do have talent (just like in 2002) but they seem hugely inconsistent.

You also missed out Lugano who is one of their best players.

So, who does Germany have to draw in order for the Dutchies (and some others) not to whine afterwards?

France/Portugal and Ivory Coast at least, right?

Last time didn't they spend ages doing the draw? As i recall they would draw a team, fanny about for a while, draw another team, have a fanny, etc etc etc. I might be thinking of another draw though.

In the 3 practice draws England were grouped with the Aussies all 3 times. Would generate the sort of banter we're all hoping for while not facing a powerhouse.

The teams this year have the same feel as 2002, unlike 06 there are a lot of solid teams that can get a result from a seeded team. (Denmark, Uruguay, Greece, etc)

Off to the Cafe to watch the draw.

1900: Fifa's opening sequence, followed by a warm welcome from the top of Table Mountain.
1905: Message from Nelson Mandela.
1916: Trophy hand over.
1942: The official match ball is revealed.
1955: The draw is scheduled to begin.
2023: End of draw, followed by analysis.

In that case, I'll leave in 30 minutes.

Seems like alot of time just to hand over a trophy and show a ball.

I've seen the match ball, and it is most definitely a ball. I don't think it needs a grand reveal.

Is the draw live on both sky sports news and BBC?

I can see Seaman, Venables, and Hodgson on Sky in the corner of my eye at work.
