Zidane and Ballack both retired in 2006 so I suppose they're not considered as worthy as players who are still in the game

Always making sense Ottito, always. Biggrin

About ten years ago while visiting some friends in North Carolina, in a sweet beach called Long Beach, I met a cute English girl in a pier there. So we hit it off right away, she introduced me to her dad who was probably in his mid 50's at the time. We're drinking, laughing, talking about football, the old man apologizes in the name of England for robbing the planet and all.

And he tells me one thing once he's had a lot of sauce, "we English, if we can win we will win, if we must lose, so be it, but WE ALWAYS CHEAT"

So I told him, "now tell me something I don't know". Laughter everywhere, cheers here cheers there more drinks. And, I left with his daughter and returned her the following morning a very happy woman.

That's a very believable story Puro. Did the English dad high five you after you told him about how many orgasms you gave his daughter?

I didn't see the old man again. I just dropped the cute honey off at the cottage they were staying and went on my way. I had to meet the friends I originally was supposed to meet. The old man was funny, sincere, genuine. His son was a big fan of football obviously, they both were, and the mom basically agreed to what the old man said, good lady too.

the Guardian's Top 6 Players of the Decade Empty 442 's BEST 100 players in the WORLD

    Post by Ä Sun Jan 16, 2011 11:23 am

England's fabled football bible, 442, has been at it again

their LIST of the BEST 100 players in WORLD at the MOMENT is OUT

the football EXPERTS of the magazine combined their wisdom(s) and distilled it to create a list of such TRUTH and INSIGHT we German fans are forced to marvel in awe

    and yes

it's as FUNNY as you would EXPECT

    Very Happy

4 Englanders make the top 20 in the WORLD

    lol!

ZEROoney enters at 12 th best player in the world

    Gerrard still makes 20

somewhere in between we find CASHLEY and FLUMPS

    Laugh

    NO Poldi

    NO Ballack

NO Frings (did anybody see his matchsaving piledriver yesterday ? )

    in the top 20

    NEITHER

    Özil, Klose, Gomez, Müller, Lahm...

Schweini has wiggled his German bum into the top 20 though, if I remember correctly

Thomas Müller is somewhere at 76

but don't worry: 442 are keen on young talents

BALE enters as the 31 st best player in the WORLD

    Laugh

we now know where our friend bernd is earning his money Whistle

if you really want to LAUGH though , take a look at entry 92

what would be REALLY FUNNY ?!

    yep, you got it right

REALLY funny would be to have a British GOALKEEPER amongst the Top 100 BEST players in the WORLD

and the winner is: Joe Hart

    lol! Biggrin cheers Very Happy

ah, and obviously, NO German keepers have made the list

    Shocked Very Happy

fey will be glad to hear that Kuyt makes the list

    cheers

allez will be proud to learn that van PErsie is there as well

van Gaal's loverboy ("the most clinical striker in the world") Huntelaar has made it

just as axel's LATEST discovery von Bommel (as a NEW entry)

    sunny

out of 100 players, only 6 earn their money in the Bundesliga, which is the STRONGEST LEAGUE in the WORLD together with the EPL these days

    not that 442 have noticed

if you now think that bernd and his colleagues were pushing the envelope a tad too far THIS time

    well

442 also revealed who their READERS voted for as BEST PLAYER in the WORLD (in an online poll)

in a clear burst of impartiality, a relative majority voted for Messi

but about 14% think that the BEST PLAYER in the WORLD is

    BALE

    lol! Laugh

    Otto old plum,

just because you handpick one football magazine and excitedly hold it up as some kind of derisory example of attitudes to football held on our dear old isle, doesn't actually provide the sweeping sociological comment that you, rather cutely, would like it to.

Am I an idiot for holding firm the belief that Gareth Bale is an exceptionally talented young player just because some people in a poll voted him the best player in the World? Nice try.

It always amuses me how precious you get over the opinions - or lack of - for German players in the UK media. Don't worry, the people that matter are perfectly aware of the endless conveyor belt of talents being spewed out of the Fatherland like a ferocious tidal wave of hair product and acne.

You and your mini-me sidekick have done a fabulous job of re programming our once anti-German brains.

Even I am now aware that Michael Ballack was the best player to have ever plied his trade on our shores, and that Stefan Freund didn't score for us in 106 games because it was simply the right thing to do. And that Jens Lehmann was an allround good egg to boot.

When Freund left London, Jens moved there: how did the midfielder help the goalie upon the latter's arrival in a BIG WAY ?

    as for Ballack

I firmly believe that if he had gone to ManU instead of Flumps' Chelsea, we would now consider the Saxon to be the best European player of that decade Ale

I have been thinking about this... if you look at the performances over 2000-10, then I will put these 3 for sure:

    Ronaldinho
    Messi
    Zidane

Then perhaps 3 out of the following:
    C Ronaldo
    Eto'o
    Ibrahimovic
    Shevchenko
    Ronaldo
    Figo
    Buffon
    Kaka

Anyways, those would probably be my top 11... honorable mentions to Drogba, Nesta, Henry, Xavi, Cannavaro, Lampard, Totti, Gerrard, Zanetti (of course), etc etc

Messi is good for the last 3 years or so.
Ronaldinho was good for 3 years as well.
    Zidane too.
If i have to chose for a whole decade then it has to be somebody who almost constantly performed well during those 10 years, or at least near to that.
    In no order:
    Xavi
    Sheva
    Puyol
    Raul
    R. Carlos
    Buffon
    Kaka
    Ibra
    Eto'o
    Ballack
    Zanetti
    Nesta
    Totti
    Pirlo
    and
    an honorable mention to:
    Raul Bravo and Oleguer.

Even I am now aware that Michael Ballack was the best player to have ever plied his trade on our shores, and that Stefan Freund didn't score for us in 106 games because it was simply the right thing to do. And that Jens Lehmann was an allround good egg to boot.

    Very Happy

Jens is one of the SWEETEST chaps around

    +

his wife now told us that her hairdresser thought Jens was HOT

    lol!

there is actually a LINK between Freund and Mad Jens

let's take this as a quiz question between bernd and allez

    winner takes all

When Freund left London, Jens moved there: how did the midfielder help the goalie upon the latter's arrival in a BIG WAY ?

    -----------------------

    as for Ballack

I firmly believe that if he had gone to ManU instead of Flumps' Chelsea, we would now consider the Saxon to be the best European player of that decade Ale

    @bernd

ZEROoney made 12th in the 442 "Best players in the World List"

    Fat Frank entered at 13th

    Gerrard at 20th

    Bale at 31st

    and

Joe Hart at 92nd or 96th

where would YOU place them in YOUR Top 100 Global ranking ?! Whistle

Jens Lehmann is, and was, a big pulsing nob. You and Allez might have time for him because he's a "nice family man", but as a player, he was an infuriating melon head. Falling over, rolling around, pushing players, blaming others for his mistakes - had he played with a smile on his face in these moments he could have been let of as just a bit of a clown, but ultimately he was a DIRTY player constantly looking to trick the referee. And for that, I don't honestly care how much of a "nice family man" he was or is. Or how many women / gay men are attracted to his big Germanic square jaw and tousled curly locks. He. is. a. NOB Laughing Ale

However, Steffan Freund on the otherhand - moderately talented at best, but an honest, hard working and all round decent guy. Plenty of Freund love. I imagine he tried to advise Jens not to be such a NOB, but alas, ultimately failed.

Seriously though - helped him purchase a house maybe? Or even sold him his Bavarian styled wooden cabin in Hertfordshire? Hot or cold?

    As for rankings:
    Rooney - 1st
    Lamps - 2nd
Gerrard - 3rd (thus ending the Gerrard V Lampard debate FOREVER)
    Bale - 4th
    Hart - 5th

    Tchuss! Ale
