Nigeria are fully shit even though we won 1-0. I'd advocate getting rid of Mikel for the next game.

    Cameroon 3-2 Zambia

You just know we were not going to be that lucky to have Song back so soon.

Cameroon managed to win in a typical fashion after looking like they were gonna lose for a large period of the match. Their equaliser was one of the flukiest goals i have ever seen.

    A very entertaining match though.

At least get the facts straight Lrd. Rolling Eyes
I don't think he is particularly good anymore and I often wonder what he is doing when I see him nowadays. What I have always maintained though is that he had potential and that he hasn't been used correctly by Chelsea. They have stiffled him more then inspired him. He should leave Chelsea and find a club that will use him in a more advanced position.

You have to be in football for football. He surrounded himself with the wrong people. Turning up for training late and showing off his new bling in his early days at Chelsea after the whole Man Utd transfer fiasco showed he juts had to much baggage. Apparently he had 9-10 guys who came with him to training everyday. It's just ridiculous. He no longer developed as a player thought he already made it, and now has become this fouling machine who struggles to make a decent pass and cant shoot for shit.

About time his name stops buying him a place in the Nigeria team and Chelsea squad.

Wow think this is the first time I can read an entire post by you and I don't disagree. I will cut the kid some slag because he was young when made that decision to go to Man Utd. Allthough you could argue it was really his agent. Now I don't know much about what he has done outside football so I won't comment but I don't think it is too late to make a change. But consider being in his situation where he starts for a big team like Chelsea and his national team while getting paid a big sum of money. I wish he would change club from a footballing perspective but overall I would understand if he stays at Chelsea even if he isn't progressing.

Also I think it is a bit naive to think footballers are only it for football. If that was case Brazil probably wouldn't be as succesful a nation in this sport.

    What did Keita do?

Scored a stunning free kick. This match has been great end to end stuff. At 2-1 a clear pen on Keita wasnt given probably a second yellow as well. Then Malawi had the miss of the tournament a cross without that much pace went over the keepers head, and all the dude had to do was touch it in but he headed it down and it somehow bounced over the goal. It's over now though 3-1

    Agree with Lerd's post.

Mikel slows Nigeria's game down a ridiculous amount. He thinks he has to have 15 touches every time he receives the ball.

At the moment the only pass he seems to have in his artillery is the cross-field ball, even that fails most of the time.

We always have numerous chances to break and counter in games but he dwells on it too long and allows the opposition to get back into position.

We'd be better off just playing with two destroyers. E.g Etuhu and Olofinjana.

Feel bad for Mali...they're a good team (apart from that joker Bagayoko up front) but go out because of a lack of integrity from Algeria and Angola. The scenes at the end, where the Algerian goalkeeper was just standing around with the ball at his feet and nobody closed him down, was a bit embarrassing to the sport. Algeria also had a perfect 4-4-2 parked right in front of their penalty box with all 11 men behind the ball Rolling Eyes , with barely 20 yards between the 3 lines.

Guess you can't blame either of them though. In the end Mali probably scored the two goals too early, because it allowed Algeria and Angola to play out a draw.

Yeah that's why GD should decide it to avoid stuff like that. How exciting that match could have been after Mali's early two goals. Algeria would have had to go for it. Anyway sucks for them they probably just got themselve a game against Ivory Coast when they could have got a very weak Ghana.
