*VDV to Chelsea is the big one today. Too many attacking midfielders in Real Madrid, Chelsea looking to strengthen the midfield following the departures of Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, and Deco. Fee could be around 15m euro.

*Apparently Villarreal are going to receive 5m euro for the transfer of Diego Fuster. Pretty decent piece of business even though Fuster is a player that I like.

*Jordi Pablo of Malaga heading on loan to Cartagena. Has a lot of promise then had a serious injury last year. Probably good for him to go and get some minutes in segunda.

*Recreativo, Albacete, and Granada all interested in taking Atletico's canterano Ibrahima Balde on loan for a year. Atletico have Forlan, Aguero, and shockingly Diego Costa on the books for next year so Ibrahima's opportunities would be quite limited.

*Zaragoza preparing a clearout of unwanted players in the next few days. Francisco Pavon, Franck Songo'o, Javier Paredes, Marko Babic, and Pablo de Barros all look to be heading for the exit at the Romareda.

*Wigan could be in for Jose Maria Callejon who had previously been linked with a move to Getafe. Espanyol are asking for a fee of 5m euro for the ex-Real Madrid forward.

*Lazio right back Pablo Pintos could be moving to Getafe on loan for next season. Getafe only have Miguel Torres for that position and Pinto was looking for more minutes than he could have in Lazio.

*With Squillaci-to-Arsenal all but done Monchi has a list of possible replacements: Kader Mangane (Rennes), Ivan Ramis (Mallorca), Yohan Benalouane (Saint-Etienne) and Miguel Britos (Bologna). *Lazio and Fiorentina are both vying for Mahamadou Diarra. His contract is (mercifully) up at the end of the year and Madrid will accept anything in the neighborhood of 5m euro for the man who cost nearly 30m euro 4 years ago.

*Juan Mata's father is at it again saying that Valencia need to either give his son a new contract or sell him. I always thought we should have kept Mata but the dad/agent is probably more trouble than it is worth.

*Supposedly Mourinho wants to keep Lass Diarra but there is a new rumour today that O. Lyon are ready to make an offer. It is thought that Lass is not happy with being a back up to Alonso, Khedira, and Gago. Big trouble is his wages...

*Racing still trying to come to an agreement with Madrid over Castilla defensive midfielder David Mateos. Apparently they are also trying to land Markus Rosenberg from Bremen.

*Betis trying to sign two of Villarreal's canteranos: Matilla and Catala. Catala has figured in a lot of Villarreal's preseason but perhaps with Gonzalo back in the fold he could go. Matilla has shown promise but with the arrival of Borja Valero there is a lot of competition for a place in the centre of midfield.

There's no chance Villarreal are going to sell their youngsters, their squad is short enough as it is.

i don't think mata's father is being unfair, the man is on like 500,000 euros per season, its shit load of money, but for a footballer of his talent he should be getting paid more, especially since his father is not happy with his 10%.

The rumour has been lingering all summer. Luis Fabiano made it clear earlier in the summer that he was not renewing his contract but it looked as if Sevilla did not care and were just going to keep him for one more year. Would be hard at this stage to replace him but if the offer is good enough they would probably sell.

Villarreal defender Joan Capdevila is on the verge of joining Serie A giants Juventus, according to AS.

The 32-year-old World Cup winner has played for the Yellow Submarine since 2007, when he joined them from Deportivo La Coruna but it is suggested that he is set to end his 12-year Primera Liga career having already agreed terms with the Bianconeri.

Capdevila's current deal at the Madrigal runs until the summer of 2012 but, while a fee has not been mooted as yet, it appears the club are willing to let him make the move if the price is right.

Villarreal are understood to have identified Sporting Gijon youngster Roberto Canella as their favoured replacement for Capdevila should he make the move.

Atletico should sell if they trust Merida's talent. That is good money and they could buy an extra striker to complete a good transfer market for them.
