This is a serious poll, just interested to see what the people here think... Not everyone lives for agenda's, like you guys
My personal vote goes for Capello, IMO he has been the best around for a while, my views haven't changed....
But there are a few other strong contenders, as always....

Depends if your opinion has changed drastically due to one season that is not right IMO. I voted Lippi out of disgust for the poll

Lippi has lost his marbles. He's developed senile dementia and a phobia of flair players.

Re: Best coach in the world?
Well, I voted "someone else", because I don't think there is such a thing as a single best coach in the world.
There's definitely a group of elite ones whose quality is undeniable, but to pick one between them is impossible because there are too many factors like luck/referee decisions, quality of players available (coaches do have varying levels of influence/control over this), quality of opposition during their time in a particular project, which cloud each coach's achievements.
And we have no objective way of measuring how "good" a coach is - is it someone who wins trophies? someone who makes a small team overachieve? someone who makes his team play amazing football? someone who has success in different teams and leagues, or someone who stays in one project for a long time but is able to keep re-inventing his team and keep winning? etc.
In case anyone's interested, the "elite group" I refer to would consist of Capello, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Ferguson, and Van Gaal. But picking between them is difficult. Lippi and Benitez have had bad seasons but I never rated them that much anyway....Van Gaal is a bit flavour of the month but he made AZ over-achieve as well recently.

Re: Best coach in the world?
question to you folks...
is a coach supposed to be great if a team collapses when he leaves...?
i mean AZ completely collapsed after Van Gaal went away. did he do a good job there then in Alkmaar? or did he forget to make people grow as an human...?

Same is true for players, Kas.... I wonder if you would vote "someone else" in a best player in the world poll
There is no objective way to rank players or coaches or even teams across leagues.... but we try and use our impressions/opinions/gut feel etc to take a call...

No, that could be a sign of a good coach, but definately not a great one.... a "great coach" would not leave ticking time bombs in the team after he leaves. His strategies would first and foremost work in the present, but also keep the club in good health for the future. Just my thoughts...

No, but it's easier to rank players because we can see with our own eyes what they do on the pitch. Messi can dribble 1 on 1 past any defender in the world regardless of what league he's playing, under what tactics, which type of football, which pitch, which referee, which teammates, etc.
With coaches, we don't know half the things they actually do, so it's tough to draw the line on whether a successful team is like that because of the coach, or his assistant, or the players, or the refs, or the opposition being shit, or all of the above.
And also, with players we know they do more or less the same thing - play football. But for coaches...some do transfers, others don't. Some take care of training as well as tactics, others leave training to their assistants. Some have lots of money for transfer fees, others have nothing. Some have lots of money for wages, others have nothing, etc, etc. And all these factors have to be considered when trying to do what your poll asks, which is to pick a single best coach.

It is tougher, agreed, but its not as different as you think.
Great coaches invariably leave their stamp on all the teams they coach... you can see the impact a Capello or a Mourinho has had on all their teams, which gives you a very good idea of how good they are. Sure, it becomes very difficult to judge coaches who have just started out (liek Pep) or have predominantly only coached 1 team... but you can give them the benefit of doubt and take a call. You say coaches play different roles and have different skills, hello??
After all, thats what you do when you rank/rate players... every player is different, and brings a unique set of skills... football is a team sport, and judging players individually is NEVER going to be objective either. You say that you can see Messi dribble, but you are using your judgement on how important dribbling is for a football player. If you think Messi is the best player on the planet, how objective is that? Why is he any better than Buffon? Is it just coz Buffon cannot dribble? No, its a call you have to take.
Its the same with coaches.
