No way Özil will stay in Bremen. Allofs is trying to extend his contract for almost 1.5 years now with no success. His contract is running out 2011, so we have to sell him now.

And it would be great if we could get a good player in exchange plus some money. But such a player must be willing to come to Bremen, and we must be able to pay his wages.

I think Bojan would be ideal for us. He's very young still, a good player with a lot potential imo, he surely would like to play more often and I think he doesn't earn that much money at Barca. Bremen would be a good place for him.

However I don't think Barca would even consider letting him go.

We don't want any of the players Barcelona are willing to let go. Cash only, thanks.

I definitely want to keep him, but if he wants to leave, hopefully to a footballing team where he can show his strengths and continue to improve.

Barca don't need him though. If you want to compare his style to their players, he is more of an Iniesta than a Xavi.

Bojan hasn't really progressed as much as expected. You could maybe take Gai Assulin, but doubt they'd wanna let him go.

Gai will go if someone makes a bid. I don't think Werder want him though. Jeffren is another possibly up for grabs.

I doubt we'll sign Ozil. Recently with all the kids coming through the youth team, the club has tended to focus on older players for the external signings. Maybe things will change with Rosell, but I doubt it.

No, I highly doubt it. He's (half) Catalan, and a youth product. He has his flaws (weak mentality, weak physically) but the general opinion among the Barça fans is that he is indeed talented enough and hasn't got a proper chance yet to prove himself. Even if the club felt they could loan him out for a year, the player himself would probably reject the move.

one or two comments about THE game of the Cup SO FAR

GOOD start to our campaign, as so OFTEN

and in view of what England, Holland, Italy, Argentina, the Africans... have produced so far:

    JOLLY GOOD STUFF

not only do we now make the best BREAD in the world

but also the MOST WATCHABLE FOOTBALL

    Ale

    STILL

I am surprised that the MOST OBVIOUS POINT has barely been picked up on in the analysis and media commentary

    Yikes

against the Aussies we played a completely DIFFERENT SYSTEM

to everything we have played so far under Löw

    Yikes

the formation was the standard 4231

which we have been playing ever since the game against Portugal at Euro 2008

a system championed by BALLACK, by the way

    agree

but there was a HUGE difference

after Bayern had won the title with van Gaal , LAHM was asked what the difference between van Gaal and Löw was

and he replied something like this

"under Löw we are FAR MORE attack-minded; our instructions are to attack IMMEDIATELY once we have the ball; van Gaal essentially wants us to KEEP POSSESSION; to make the game WIDE, and CHANGE SIDES; then we give the ball to Robbery to finish off the move"

    ie

Bayern football is SLOW in the first two thirds of the pitch

there are A LOT OF sidesways and backways passes

when van Gaal first started this system Beckenbauer was BORED out of his skull and said "what's the point of having the ball so much when you do so little with it ? nowadys, you have to entertain; this football reminds me of Sepp Herberger football of the 50s; es ist nicht mehr zeitgemäss"

    still

if you have flair players like Robbery at Bayern

    or

    Özil+Poldi+Müller at the Mannschaft

you get entertaining football in the last THIRD of the pitch

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE SPACE

Australia were VERY kind in providing it

you do NOT win World Cups against the Australias of the world though, but against the Italys, Argentinas, Brazils of the world

which is why all the euphoria is PREMATURE

how and why Löw changed his "once you have the ball you attack"-approach to the van Gaal "KEEP POSSESSION" approach is a mystery to me

    scratch

    surely, it's GOOD news

because, essentially, van Gaal is merely playing GERMAN football of the 80s and 90s

watch the Mannschaft footage of those days, and THAT is EXACLTY how Lothar/Klinsi and Co played

    cheers

still, there are worries about our backline

Anne Friedrich was too slow one or twice; you can get away with it against Cahill but NOT against the top boys

the Schweini/Khedira combo did NOT work fully yet

and the WASTEFULNESS of Özil makes you wonder as well

EVERYBODY is raving about the Turk

    BUT

Bremen/Mannschaft fans KNOW that he WASTES chances for FUN

note, that we only play with ONE striker

against the likes of Brazil, we might only get one or two chances

and Özil better get his act together ; we need HIS goals as well

    -------

good to see Klose score again

van Gaal TRIED to destroy him

all Klose needs is ONE GOOD CROSS

    in this case from Lahm

    and he scores

for Bayern , Lahm would have given the ball to Robben who would have finished the ball himself

makes you wonder how good Bayern could be WITHOUT Robben

    they could be UNBEATABLE

    for the next generation

    think about it

    Ale

According to Müller Germany played in the style of Louis van Löw.

Just make Louis Bundeskanseler and be done with it, we all know you want it and we all know you need it Ale

well, we do not need van Gaal when Löw already plays like him anyway

the difference between the two is one of "players available"

van Gaal uses Ribery, Robben, Olic, Müller up front

Löw has Özil, Poldi, Müller, Klose

    THAT is the main difference

    ---------

in the last test-games against Hungary and Bosnia

Löw still did not have the foggiest who to play where and how

and still wanted to attack IMMEDIATELY

then the Bayern players joined the training camp and it seems Löw could no longer be bothered with making HIS system work

    so he just said

    FUCK IT

Bayern were VERY successful this season

    we have 7 Bavarians

so let's just COPY AND PASTE

    cheers

frankly, considering that the Löw system was ALWAYS BULLSHIT

    this is GOOD NEWS

    sunny

why Löw suddenly gets the credit though, I do NOT understand

The way we played against Australia did remind a lot to van Gaal's Bayern, a bit more attacking maybe and of course with different players.

I remember that early in May I suggested that it might be a good idea to adapt the current Bayern style for our national team btw. Very Happy

I think Germany coped very well with the Ozzies giving them plenty of space to play the ball around.

Expect germany to go very far if other countries use the same tactics v them. Especially if they also have a German in goal.

The difference to Bayern, and basically most teams I have seen in recent times, were the abrupt, 'Blitz' like changes of tempo. The paralell was keeping possession and doing quite a few sidewards passes. But the buildups were not as 'patient' as Bayern's, but a lot more direct, 'explosive' you could say. A few passes in the midfield, then zack-zack-zack and they were right in front of the Aussie goal. You need technically adept, tactically intelligent, pacy players for this kind of football, something we simply did not have in 2008, at least in these numbers.

Serbia will of course be more difficult and the first real test, expect a difficult, close match. But, in principle, this system and philosophy can be effective against any team. It all depends on how consistent this young team can perform.

P.S.: The 4-2-3-1 system now is a lot more balanced than it was in 2008 (when it was more balanced than the initial 4-4-2 with Fritz and Podolski on the wings!). Badstuber on the left is primarily defensive minded behind Podolski who isn't exactly the best defender. The more attacking Lahm on the right to support Müller who does a lot of early pressing. Two skillful holding / central midfielders to support Özil and take some of the creative burden. The system is one thing, how you interpret it a completely different matter.
