I think the Dutch would have a lot more fluency in their game, if De Jong was dropped. VdV moved centrally, and brining Elia into the side, Robben on the left.
They'd probably steamroller Slovakia with that formation.

Dutch lineup vs Slovakia :
Stekelenburg
Van der Wiel - Heitinga - Mathijsen - Van Bronckhorst
Van Bommel - De Jong
Robben - Sneijder - Kuijt
Van Persie
Huge mistake IMO...
Van der Wiel be caught out defending and we have no left flank at all.

How do you know which side Robben is on though Axe ?
Has he ever played Kuyt on the left before ? Seems crazy if he does.

Don't worry Axe, Van Bommel and De Jong will take care of the gaps Robben leaves, especially the former.

He has played Kuyt there before.
VDV was also played completely out of position as LM/LW.

Why o why no wingers...? Why o why he doesn't start Elia? why o why Kuyt on the left...Axeslammer wrote:Dutch lineup vs Slovakia :

I thought VdV Injury was a good thing so he could start with wingers.... does he put Kuyt on the left....

Robben is the best winger you have!
Elia is good, too, sure, but Robben will provide some badly needed width.

He'll surely be switching sides with Dirk throughout the game

kuyt will start on the right, this has been van marwijks plan all along. both will wander and switch throughout the game anyways.
listening to axeslammer's stance on vdw one might have to wonder how on earth he won best dutch youngster this season without no kuyt to cover him all year long :p
oranje have never lost a game with vdw in the side, he was rested against cameroon and we immediately concede, coincidence? i think not! i kiid i kiid

because of kuyt and vdv (even though he offers more going forward than kuyt)
but now that arjen is freed from robben island, the world can rejoice again

Undiano Mallenco is the referee - so, who is in danger of getting suspended from Dutch team? for him then.

Mallenco will give yellow to:
De Jong
Gio
Van der Wiel
Van Persie
and Kuyt
and if he is able to give one at the injured VdV he'll does it as well!

Very early pressing by the Dutch, it has been quite effective so far. It'll be interesting to see how long they can keep that up.
