This season could turn out to be really bad. Our defense is still calamitous and now we don't have Robben to offset that deficiency with his 15-20 goals. I'm all for introducing youngsters, but we were exceptionally lucky with Müller and Badstuber last year. The club has tons of money. If they had spent 40-50mil on 2-3 necessary players they could've really established Bayern among the top 4 in Europe (for years to come probably).

    Instead, they're being stingy.

Some (possible) problems: Contento will struggle on the left. Badstuber's 2nd season will be much tougher than the first (heightened expectations), Müller will run out of energy at some point. Klose is still not scoring. Gomez who? Bommel might start showing his age. Add in another injury or two and this could turn into a shit year.

Maybe a disappointing season is what they need to understand that all that money doesn't help you win - if it stays in the bank account! Frustrating.

Robben masked a lot of problems with Bayern, without him and that dodgy defense Bayern can lose against any decent opponent away from home. Cant believe Hoeness didnt made any signing to strengthen that defense, Bayern are filthy rich ffs. Add the second season syndrome a lot of youngsters have and it could indeed become a long year. But at least it makes the Bundesliga more interesting for neutrals, though on the other hand I cant see any other German team ending above Bayern.

Quarters are the maximum for us this year. Let's hope they buy (reasonably) huge.

Bayern are lacking creativity now that they don't want to play Robben, rumor has it they've made an offer of 12M for VDV to compensate for that...

Interesting line from journalist Raphael Honigstein (don't know how highly rated he is in Germany, but he certainly comes across as having good knowledge).

Apparently it was Van Gaal who chose not to sign anyone for Bayern this summer. The board made 25m available to him. And they are not happy with him about not spending the money, as they are less confident in the squad than he is.

Instead of spending money, Bayern even made a profit of 7.5m Euro in this transfer period.

A central defender and a left back might have been useful, but I guess van Gaal knows what he's doing.

IIRC the Big 4 (Arsenal, Chelsea, Man. Utd, Man. City) in England pay between 90-130m pounds a year, which is around 110-155m euros a year. But that's player wages only, not staff...so basically Bayern spends as much on wages as City do! That's quite high.

Man City's wage-bill for all staff is £133m (but that's before this summer's investment).
Chelsea's player wage bill was £142.6m earlier this year.
    Arsenal's wage-bill for all staff was £110m.
    Man Utd's wage-bill is £132m.

    Elsewhere:
    Inter's (for 2009) was €205m.
    Milan's was €172m
Barcelona's total for 09/10 was €262.9m for all staff, and was presumably inflated by bonuses paid out for the exception season prior to that.

Yep, you're right. I just checked and the wages were divided by 'sports' and admin. I'm not sure what the football only wages were.
