With just one matchday of the season gone, Mourinho's excuses and digs have already started to pile up. Let's use this thread to track them through the course of the season.
On Saturday was a special two-birds-with-one-stone dig at both Barça and the league's referees, with the following comment:
"Barça may have a very high quality squad, but they only play 11 men at a time, and often they play against 10 men"
After yesterday's 0-0 draw, he reportedly said "my squad is too large and too young"
Add to this the constant pleas for a big target man style striker, or what I like to call, an "escape clause". It looks like the club will deny him his wish.
There has also been lots of "my team needs time, they are not ready yet, we are not the finished product like Barcelona", etc. but we'll forgive him on this one because it's more fact than excuse, and you can't blame a Real Madrid manager when he repeats this particular footballing concept over and over and over again to his board and president, who haven't really seemed to have understood it over the past 7-8 years.
