Well-poised match so far. Ref is getting plenty of flak from the supporters but he got the two big calls right, and most of the bookings have been fair as well. Djourou and Barry maybe could have got away with theirs, but on the other hand De Jong could have been booked as well. Arsenal should have put themselves in a very strong position, but as it is you can easily see Man City getting a goal, or the numbers being evened up. I've been surprised by how adventurous Richards has been. He's popped up in advanced positions throughout the half.

The red card is not quite as nailed on as Gray made out - he got carried away with "the last man" rather than "denying a clear goal scoring opportunity" but a lot of twats do that.

The key is Chamakh's touch and Hart's position - who would be favourite to reach the ball if he'd not been fouled - I think the ref got it right.

It was a pen as well.

How overhyped was fabianski's early save ?

You'd slaughter a keeper for not saving that.

    Ale

So it wasn't a penalty nah?

Well, it was much more a penalty than some you've got this season, but I can't help but notice how many times referees have given you pens and sent off opponents. Couldn't possibly be a knock-on effect of Wenger's huge fuss over Ramsey...

It wasn't boring, but it was a poor 45 minutes of football.

Arsenal looks vulnerable against over the top balls to Tevez, wondering if City will be able to capitalize on it in 2nd half.

Also wondering how long Mancini will wait before he put Adam Johnson and possibly Adebayor as well.

Good first half. Hope we score a second one, because anything could happen in the second half. Ashame Fab missed this penalty, but Hart' save was brilliant.

A major problem over the years; we never take our chances when we have to and we ALWAYS end up paying for it.

I wouldn't normally advocate for this, but I think we should play a deeper line, we should never have more than 3 or 4 players ahead of the ball. Our 3 CMs are all on a yellow and one of them is bound to get another with the way we are current playing(a lot of players caught ahead of the ball) coz there'll be instances where they'll have to make a foul to cut out a counter.

    Great goal from Samir <Ale>

De Jong should've definitely received a yellow, along with Kompany for the penalty.

We have two confirmed good penalty takers in the team. Van Persie and Nasri. No one else should take them whilst either are on the pitch.

Incidentally, I don't know the rule regarding penalties so someone can correct me here. Does any foul in the box equal a penalty or is it only if its a goal scoring opportunity. Fabregas' penalty is a classic case of a clear foul in the box but not a real goal scoring opportunity. Isn't it in this case that the fouled team should receive an indirect free kick in the box? It never happens, just wondering.

Anyway, Arshivin must betaken off, Djourou as well and probably Denilson. I say: Rosicky -> Denilson, Bendtner -> Arshavin and Kosceinly -> Djourou.

    Bridge for Yaya Toure.
Barry still on the pitch Doh

Romford Pele - do you think every foul called in penalty box should be a yellow? Kompany's wouldn't be a yellow if done outside the box.

Fabregas is poor with penalties and set pieces in general. He does score PKs and the team does score occasionally from his deliveries but his technique is mostly poor. Very much like Lampard in this respect.

Great, strong work by Chamakh. But after that play he is looking even more pathetic in my eyes when going down so easily inside the box...

A penalty kick is awarded against a team that commits one of the ten offences
for which a direct free kick is awarded, inside its own penalty area and while
    the ball is in play.
