Since Luis is absent apparently, maybe someone can explain it why is MU playing at 12.00? I wanted to watch both games (with Chelsea - Arsenal)...

Odd thing is that they are not even on TV. Only thing I can think of is that police anticipate trouble and wanted an early kick-off, but I don't think it's ever been a very contentious fixture?

    These are this weekend's matches

    Saturday, 29 October 2011

    Everton v Man Utd, 12:00
    Chelsea v Arsenal, 12:45
    Man City v Wolverhampton, 15:00
    Norwich v Blackburn, 15:00
    Sunderland v Aston Villa, 15:00
    Swansea v Bolton, 15:00
    Wigan v Fulham, 15:00
    West Brom v Liverpool, 17:30

    Sunday, 30 October 2011

    Tottenham v QPR, 16:00

Since i'm watching the Premier League from the early 90's, i don't think i have witnessed a game played at noon. I might be wrong though.
But it's a nonwatchable schedule, Seria A and La Liga are doing the same all season long, but i think nobody even cares about the games at 12.00 or watches them.

They've started 12pm kickoffs since last year. 12.45 ones are pretty common.

And this time slot is purely for Asia. Everton are sponsored by a Chinese company, and Man. Utd. are Man. Utd. So even if the game is not on TV in England, it's going to be broadcast all over the Far East and India in a primetime TV slot.

Yeah, this fixture has been an early kick-off on a number of occasions over the years. IIRC a game involving Man City had a 11:30 KO at one time because they had a few Chinese players in their team.

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Djourou, Mertesacker, Koscielny, A. Santos, Arteta, Song, Ramsey, Walcott, van Persie, Gervinho

Not sure about Ferguson's lineup here...he's playing very attacking, but with no width. Rooney-Welbeck-Hernandez-Cleverley are showing some good touches and close control, but the play is too congested. Everton's midfield shouldn't have a problem coping with it.

Edit: Evra provides the missing width, and provides a cross for Hernandez to score from.

Good job by Mata and also one of Chelsea's players did a nice diagonal pass to him to start a whole play. Not sure who it was. Poor marking by Mertesacker.

Andre Santos is diabolical defensively. Plus, both teams are playing high defensive line, which is not a good idea for Mertesacker and Terry. At least Chelsea is pressing up front, so Arsenal midfielders don't have time on the ball.

I don't recall watching Premier League match recently with both teams having such a high backline. Arsenal looks more dangerous playing through balls centrally, Chelsea prefer attacking wide. Oops, nice pass by Lampard to Sturridge, poor finish though.

Has the rule changed with red cards? Evans has started for United today...i thought a red was an immediate suspension?

Bosingwa is playing as well. I'm thinking there is 1 game suspension for professional foul and they both served it in Carling Cup. Drogba probably got 3 games for dangerous tackle.

Well deserved for Arsenal. Chelsea looks very passive when defending in their own half, thinking they are tired after exhausting games against QPR and Everton.

Superb move by Arsenal, puts the Chelsea defense to sleep, and Van Persie scored.

Really fucking stupid from Chelsea, they went back to their slow mode after taking the lead. Lots of short, pointless passing in midfield, trying to "control" the game. Idiots. Sturridge has been very poor, always taking the wrong decision and not releasing the ball soon ehough.

Chelsea score but it's ruled offside. Santos is getting torn apart with ease. Good call from the linesman. Arsenal might want to bring on Vermaelen at left-back at half-time.
