0-2 Chelsea. Anelka again. That should be enough for them against such poor opposition.

Re: CL Round of 16: Madrid vs The Lions
F*cking hell great work from Benzema, fighting for the ball, winning it back from the defender and then a nice little run. A bit of fortune on the shot as he was slipping and Cris helped it into the net but still great work. Great little first time ball from Ronaldo too to slip Benzema through.

F*cking needless foul given by Marcelo and nobody bothering to mark the other team's centre forward in the ensuing free kick.

Re: CL Round of 16: Madrid vs The Lions
FT Lyon 1-1 Real Madrid
Well, there you go. Things going along nice and smooth and then we fucking try to park the bus for the last 15 minutes and we concede. Needlessly. Normally this wouldn't be a bad result for the first leg but if there is one thing that characterizes our utter and complete sh!tness in the CL over the last 5 years it has been the teams abysmal record at the Bernabeu in the knockout rounds.
I wonder if Florentino will sack Mourinho if we get knocked out in a fortnight. At least I am happy with Benzema for one night.

Re: CL Round of 16: Madrid vs The Lions
Adebayor hardly had anything to work with in the first half since we were incredibly static. All of the passes he got consisted of long balls when he was around several Lyon players. Only in the second half did we start to move and pass the ball at a good tempo. With that said Benzema came in and delivered the goods. He was making great touches little touches all over even if didn't lead to that many chances. He was also quite aggressive which was great to see and the whole team gained considerably in confidence after the break and especially after Benzema's goal.
Thought Mourinho got it wrong by subbing Khedira for Lass and Marcelo for Ozil. I didn't mind us going more defensive but didn't quite understand the purpose of Marcelo in midfield who ended up giving away the freekick. Towards the end we didn't control things enough in center and it got too hectic.
Was impressed that Ramos managed to keep his cool despite getting an early yellow which he never should have gotten. Ozil was nowhere in the first half but redeemed himself in the second half. Thought Cris had a very good game for Lyon and intercepted many times and we have to understand how to play him in the second leg. It was a real shame we didn't get the victory. It was a thight game in the sense that neither side really created too much from open play, Benzema's goal being the exception. We didn't quite have the luck needed on set pieces but I believe we will go through.
With regards to FCK I didn't see the match but only the highlights afterwards. You have to remember that FCK has played competitive football 2-3 months since the Danish league stops in early December. If this was a match between two equal sides it might make less of a difference although it would be felt but in this case it was always going to be obvious and especially since FCK has no experience at this level. Still disappointed by them but they have already done great things and hopefully they will be back next season.

REAL looks not really scary
i dont see a structure in there attacking game, all baised on luck, individuals and coincidence
me wonders if mouriinho can really add a game philosophy which not relys on counter attack

Re: CL Round of 16: Madrid vs The Lions
Madrid at home will win 2-0, nothing to worry about.
Overall it's been poor a poor quality round. The Arsenal vs Barca game was good but not as good as I was hoping for. The Spurs game was poor quality but comedy enterainment.
Looks like the English teams' dominance is very much back with 3 definitely going through and Arsenal in a strong position.

Milan can win in London, Man United didn't even played OM and Arsenal are not in a strong position (1-0 is enough for Barca).

Re: CL Round of 16: Madrid vs The Lions
Milan can win in London
They can but wont. I can't remember too many teams losing 1-0 at home then going through. The way Milan set up plays right into Spurs' hands; there's far too much space in the middle of the park and when Spurs have possession they can just ping the ball out wide and the Milan fullbacks have no chance.
Man United didn't even played OM
Man United are already through. They aren't going to be knocked out by some French team that hasn't reached this stage in about 15 years.
and Arsenal are not in a strong position (1-0 is enough for Barca
Any win in the first leg puts you in a strong position IMO. The onus is on the losing side to find a goal and when Barca push forward Arsenal can nick a goal on the counter which would make it very difficult. I agree this is still too close to call because if Barca turn up and have one of their better days they could easily destroy Arsenal. They're getting a bit complacent lately though and need to step it up a bit.

Milan don't have a prayer, especially with Bale back. Spurs energy levels will be way too much - similar to what Arsenal done a couple seasons back against them.

To be fair, I couldn't care less about Bayor after the way he fucked Arsenal about. I'm just saying at a club where he is loved and motivated - he can be one of the top 5 strikers in the world. I doubt it will be at Madrid because of Higuain. I always thought Liverpool may have been a good move for him
