Oh, I see. But on the night it is an accurate statement. Biggrin

You still really rate him (Adebayor) though don't you?

To be fair, I couldn't care less about Bayor after the way he fucked Arsenal about. I'm just saying at a club where he is loved and motivated - he can be one of the top 5 strikers in the world. I doubt it will be at Madrid because of Higuain. I always thought Liverpool may have been a good move for him Ale

I always thought this would be more of the sentiment so it surprised me to see you to sticking up for him a lot. But fair enough. Ale

    Milan can win in London

They can but wont. I can't remember too many teams losing 1-0 at home then going through. The way Milan set up plays right into Spurs' hands; there's far too much space in the middle of the park and when Spurs have possession they can just ping the ball out wide and the Milan fullbacks have no chance.

Man United didn't even played OM

Man United are already through. They aren't going to be knocked out by some French team that hasn't reached this stage in about 15 years.

and Arsenal are not in a strong position (1-0 is enough for Barca

Any win in the first leg puts you in a strong position IMO. The onus is on the losing side to find a goal and when Barca push forward Arsenal can nick a goal on the counter which would make it very difficult. I agree this is still too close to call because if Barca turn up and have one of their better days they could easily destroy Arsenal. They're getting a bit complacent lately though and need to step it up a bit.

I didn't say Milan was favorite or that OM will beat Man United (0-0 after the first game). I have a problem with "definitely". Only Chelsea is definitely qualified. Spurs and Man United a favorites, but small favorites.

After that 4-1 from last and what should have been a 2-2 now (Messi's goal was valid) Arsenal are not in a strong position.

So far, Bayern, Totthenham, Chelsea and Shakkar have a decent advantage since they won away. Schalke and Madrid as well since they scored an away goal. Roma and Copenhagen are already out for sure. Man utd-Marseille will be decided at O.T and Barcelona-Arsenal in Spain.

English teams: 3 victories 1 draw
German Teams: 1 victory 1 draw
    French teams: 2 draws
Spanish teams: 2 draws 1 loss
    Italian teams: 3 losses

English and German teams did well. The second leg will be a different story for Spanish teams. I can't see Inter winning in Bayern and Milan in London, but you never know.

I'm quite worried about crazy horse (Ramos) doing something stupid in defense again. Arbeloa has been much better this season, so the whole "with Mourinho only the best players start" is certainly not true in this case. Unfortunately Pepe also tends to save his screwups for big CL occasions, so let's hope that doesn't happen tonight.

I'm quite nervous, chain smoking like a mad man (which I hadn't done in years)even though deep down I think we will go through. There are no excuses, the curse HAS TO END TONIGHT. I can't take another year of not watching my team in the CL after March.

Ozil and Ronaldo have to come through tonight, as does our French zombie striker who has been doing very well lately. And let's hope the Bernabeu actually pushes the team forward tonight rather than whine if things start going wrong.

    HALA MADRID!!!!!!!!!!!!

After last years match I was convinced that we had progressed far enough to say that we would definitely qualify past the last 16 this year and so far im still convinced we will do it. Im not too worried or excited though. I have more or less become desensitised to it.

One of the few things im excited about is how Benzema will play. He has raised the bar lately and is really looking good and this is a big occasion. Ozil as well has to start showing it on this stage. Im dissapointed that Ronaldo made it back for this match. I was hoping we could play the 4-4-2 of the last couple of games.

Sorry but the whole thing about disappointment due to Ronaldo being fit is crazy. This is exactly the type of game we need him for, he's a match winner who can come up with goals out of nowhere. We don't have any other player like him at the moment, so I'll take a match winner like him even if our collective game may suffer somewhat.

Anyway, I'm off to the bar. Got my Canales shirt on even though he isn't likely to play Cool

Well you have to look at Ronaldo's presence in a total sense. What are the benefits and what are the costs. In a big game Ronaldo's presence on the left can weaken us defensively plus we play slower when he is in the team and Ozil feels obligated to constantly give him the ball. In a big game like this he can certainly be dangerous and decide the game through individual brilliance but it is unrealistic to always assume that will be the case because more often then not he hasn't. He isn't on the Messi scale of choking but still. Biggrin

But I think Ronaldo has to start coming up with the goods in matches like these. So far no goals in three matches against Barcelona, zero goals in the CL knockout rounds (for Madrid)...it's not enough to score 4 against Malaga or whoever.

If we don't go through with Mourinho's record at home, we may never get to the 1/4 finals. Ever. Again. Yikes

I know it is my bias but I am also worried about Marcelo tonight. He's improved a lot under Mourinho but he still makes me nervous, defensively, on the big occasions.
