Anelka tried to be cute with that, how many times have we seen those short run-ups fail in the past?
Arteta levels at 2-2 after three rounds.

Albertini was the only one I remember who really mastered that.

I always remember Signori taking them quite well like this. They're just not a good way of taking a penalty though - too little power, and often easier to read for the goalkeeper.
Neville scores, and Chelsea go out.
-----------
Seven penalty defeats in a row for Chelsea.

Re: FA Cup weekend
He really can't play as a left midfielder - not good enough dribbler, he doesn't have an acceleration to beat players 1 on 1, he is progressing in some areas important for a wide midfielder/winger, but he's still best attacking into open space, so don't see him playing well further up the pitch.Kroos wrote:baines should play left midfield for england (because he will never play left fullback as long cahsley plays, because of his repuation), no wonder bayern wanted this guy, but he had no nuts to join bayern

Chelsea + Penalty Shoot-Outs = FAIL.
As bad as England.
the big surprise (to me) was the Dutchie Heitinga doing one of the best penalties of the lot. I had him down to miss for sure. Interesting that 4/5 Everton pens were taken by defenders. Are all their attackers cowards?

Re: FA Cup weekend
So that's Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea out.
The worrying thing for all people with souls is that Birmingham and Stoke are trundling through with easy home ties. Do not want scum like them infecting the latter rounds; league cup has already been ruined beyond repair.

He still doesn't look like a penalty saver. Baines was hit at a very nice height/pace, giving him 50-50 chance - go the right way and you save it.
Generally all he seems to do is a silly arm waving at the start and then dive the wrong way.

Re: FA Cup weekend
I was expecting Neville, Heitinga and Baines to take them, only minor surprise was to see Jagielka as well (he missed against Fiorentina in UEFA CUP, but he scored against MU), probably Bilyaletdinov was next in order. And if Heitinga wouldn't sub for Osman it would be Osman (or Billy) shooting in a first group.debaser wrote:Chelsea + Penalty Shoot-Outs = FAIL.

Not a surprise it was him doing it. Times where Everton was a physical and "cuntish" team are an ancient history, we are generally too nice and too soft these days, only Cahill and Heitinga have any skills in winding up opponent, or doing some dirty work.

Good job for Chelsea that they play Copenhagen midweek and not one of the bigger clubs.
Copenhagen is not a good fixture for Chelsea, especially now with their poor form. Copenhagen are well organised, tough to play against, and can match Chelsea physically, which is their major strength considering their utter lack of creativity in midfield. It's going to be a not-very-pretty battle.

Crawley pwning Manchinster. So strange to see Fergle's defence retreat to the 18 yard box so readily against a non league side. With a bit more composure in the final 3rd Crawley might be level, they seem to get a headrush though as soon as they're within sight of goal.

It would help if you did your research first chin.
Not sure what Anelka thought he was doing. Ridiculously casual.

Re: FA Cup weekend
Been in Leeds all weekend so haven't really seen any matches but this is as bad as an international break for me. Fucking pain in the neck when you get knocked out the cup early. At least when you aren't in Europe you still have a league game to look forward to at the weekend.
United will coast to the final by playing little teams (after they beat the last remains of Hodgson's abyss) and beat Everton in the final 1-0 or on pens.

Re: FA Cup weekend
City win by 5 after scoring 3 in the last few mins. Highly flattering, considering how even the first half was. Balotelli marched off in a strop when he was subbed and Dzeko just missed piss-easy 1-on-1 though so there's still something to enjoy for the neutral City-hater
