Should Rooney really of been sent off Empty Should Rooney really of been sent off

    Post by Brian2468 Mon Feb 28, 2011 12:34 am

Rooney annoyed the hell out of me yesterday with that elbow my feelings at first were to send him off. Then as this game of footy means so much to me why should a arshole ruin our game. The ref made the right call for the players and UTD specially but mostly for the game. Rooney needs to be punished I would rather he gets punished after the game at a later time when he has to justify what he did to a Jury then ban him with lost games. That way one bad apple does not ruin it for the others. Ale

The FA spoke to the referee, Mark Clattenburg, this morning and he said he saw the incident and was satisfied that he dealt with it appropriately at the time.

if Rooney isn't punished then Clattenburg should be.

If Fergleton has any dignity then he'll ban Rooney himself, it's not as though he's playing well anyway.

It's a pretty nasty little incident, and the fuss isn't there just because it's Rooney. This was worse than most elbows, which tend to be a player lashing out in the heat of the moment, and is definitely worse than evil Joey Bartons little dig in Pedersens ribs for which he was called every name under the sun. He ran up and elbowed a bloke when he wasn't looking, unprovoked. It's demented behavious and the sign of a true pikey. The closest incident i can think of is Thatcher on Mendes, which was obviously alot worse, but still pretty similar.

Still, Joey Barton can't play for England because he is a thug. <Ale> Rolling Eyes

Joey Barton in the England team affraid

Rooney obviously wasn't going to get punished. Him and Gerrard are untouchable, scousers can get away with these things it seems. Unless they take it too far and put a cigarette in someone's eye <Ale>

Oh is Spuddy sticking his oar in again? I am surprised, and I don't think I need to point out how flawed that argument is.

There you go the beast gets to get away with it and scores one of the hardest technical shots a player can score (bottom corner) outside the box with the keeper having full view of the ball. Nani and the beast intelligently created space losing there defending markers it was one of the best goals I've seen in a while from that area outside the box, Messi would of been proud of that one.

Scary really nothing at all Ale I think the people that voted for the first Answer are jealous drunken football fans at heart. Wink

It's worth mentioning that that incident was actually an exception to the rule of "referee made his decision during the match, even if he didn't punish a player, so we (FA) can't punish player". But maybe at that time referee admitted that he was wrong or saw his things incorrectly, at least he did that.
