Who was the best summer signing in the Premier League?

Been a few really good buys, some bargains and some maybe a little over-priced. I've only included the players I feel have made an impact this season, if you feel there are any more just state them.

Discuss.

Silva, Tiote, VDV, Hernandez, Meireles probably the best 5. Haven't watched them all enough to really pick.

I'd add Elmohamady at Sunderland and Odemwingie at WBA.

I went for van der Vaart (even less of a debate taking price into account, perhaps), but are the likes of him summer signings, or autumn/transfer deadline signings?

Both sides of the Ireland-Milner deal.
Konchesky, J.Cole and Poulsen.
Benyanoon - broken.
That Argentinian striker whose name I forget who was Wigan's record signing and vanished again in January.

James Perch, not that anyone thought he was going to be a good signing, but fuck me, he jumped into Newcastles bad defending hall of fame pretty quickly.

Tiote for me. Although I do think Hernandez is a really good piece of business by Man Utd. But Tiote strikes me as irreplaceable for Newcastle Utd whereas Man Utd have other people that can score for them. VDV has been injured too much for me but still a shrewd buy for Spurs.

I went with Tiote to level the poll at 4-4. Two horse race this one.

1. Van der vaart - a world class player, bought for just 8m. Simple choice.

2. Tiote - already praised above

3. Hernandez - 6m for a 21 year old whose put up the numbers (excuse the American-ism) he has? Great buy.

£3.5m from Twente. He has my vote too.

I'm going for VDV, Hernandez and Meireles.

VDV was an absolute bargain considering he's genuine class and allows Spurs to play a system with just one striker which suits them.

Hernandez in time will prove to be great buy from Fergie; it's a shame Rooney didn't fuck off like he said he was going to because he's getting in the starting line up without merit at the moment whereas Hernandez seems to score every time he plays.

Meireles has a lot of quality as well. Origionally people believed he would more a replacement for Alonso but he's proven to be more a replacement for Garcia/Benayoun and his goals have been vital at times under our resurgence under Kenny. Do think he's dropped off a little over the past 2 games or so.

Tiote narrowly misses out, I think he's a great defensive mid but I'm always wary these types of players can't sustain their level like Sissoko for example.

I think Tiote is a pretty good footballer actually, not a one dimensional DM like Lass or Mahamadou Diarra or Sissoko.

Credit where it's due - Dimbo predicted Tiote would be a good signing. I laughed at him as I tend to do, since he's quite often full of shit is our Dimbo.

But this one - 3.5million, he's looked very good.

And, oddly, the missus seems a lot keener to let me watch Spurs when they're on tv, but only when he's playing. What does this mean?

She's in it for Raphael, you're in it for Sylvia. And possibly the Football. If you both just except there's far better looking people in the world, its so much easier.
