What do people make of Essien at the moment? He seems to lack so much of the power and drive that he had in his prime. Do you think he is permanently on the wane and injuries have hampered him? Or will he be back to his best with a proper pre-season break?

How and why have people decided that Torres was an Abramovich signing? I don't think so...I think it was a collective decision by all the relevant people in Chelsea, including Ancelotti. They were interested in him since the summer, but only acted in panic in January, and didn't really think through that it would need some tactical changes in the medium-to-long term.

Yup, I'm very surprised they haven't bought on Zhirkov to give them someone to run at Shea, who is on a yellow. Kalou isn't much more of a wideman than Anelka.

Essien has been mediocre this season. Doesn't dominate midfield like he used to, that is for sure, though he's still important to them. Probably a bit jaded as well, since Mikel's been injured for ages. Very rarely been rested this season.

Ramires off. I actually like him as a player...honest, hard working, brings energy and allows for a unique tactical option in midfield. But totally wrong signing for a club like Chelsea, who need the opposite of him in midfield - creativity and skill. And of course, 20m for a runner is ridiculous.

Ramires should've been subbed for Zhirkov or Benyanoon a while back. He's a good source of energy but they needed someone more likely to make a goal. Ancelotti strikes me as a bit of a dumb manager.
