Clear penalty by Evra. WTF is the extra ref for? Can't he help with such decisions?

Great call, both Ramires and Torres deserved their cards.
Excellent united in Europe once again. Lets hope we can make it 19/4 this year

In fairness to the officials it did look, for just a moment, as if Evra got within a foot of the ball before hooking his foot around his thigh and scissoring the man down. Absolutely scandalous. And Ferguson now on saying he 'made the most of it.' This officiating takes the piss.

If Ancelotti gets sacked at the end of the season, he may look at a few of his decisions from tonight:
Starting Torres over Anelka
Starting Zhirkov over Malouda
Taking off Drogba instead of Torres
Bringing on Mikel instead of Kalou
By the way, what is the extra official for? They clearly don't make any decisions.

Fergle's view on the penalty decision is unsurprisingly brilliant
"Yeah, someone said it could have been a penalty. It was the first penalty decision we've had in seven years, so we're due one," said the Scot.
"But I don't feel guilty about that at all. It was a 50-50 from where I was and I don't know what the contact situation was."

Yeah aside from the weekend Slur when you got one of the most ridiculous penalties awarded this season
Missed the game. Any good ?

Re: CL Quarterfinal - Chelsea vs. Man. Utd.
The problem is that Chelsea play a short passing game, whereas Torres needs the ball in space - preferably through balls in behind the defense so that he can use his pace. He has a horrible first touch so if you try to get him to play in tight spaces in front of the opposition defense, he'll not only be uncomfortable, but also ruin your team's attacks.

Re: CL Quarterfinal - Chelsea vs. Man. Utd.
Once again Ancelotti shows that he's a big coward and is very willing to be his boss's bitch. The Drogba substitution was hilarious, he was being Chelsea's only real danger in attack while Fernando "the ball goes 5 meters away from my foot every time I touch it" Torres was making a fool of himself all game. Torres' selfishness has really reached another level in recent games, and last night he even failed to pass to Drogba twice when there was a clear opening just so he could try a useless run down the line that ended in a goal kick Shouldn't really be a surprise given that this is the same guy that played two strikers at Milan because Berlusconi ordered him to do through the press. I really fear that this guy will end up at Real Madrid at some point, with Florentino and Valdano taking turns at taking him from behind on a regular basis

Re: CL Quarterfinal - Chelsea vs. Man. Utd.
I actually think I've lost any hatred I had for United this season. I don't know why but I have a lot of respect for them now. I think this week has shown just how far being a team and having a hard-working, never-say-die attitude can get you in football. 2-0 down away at West Ham, most other teams would have gone on to lose but United went from slipping back into a real title race to effectively winning the title in 45 minutes of football.
In the Champions League I was surprised to see United start with 2 strikers. Usually it's a 4-5-1 with Rooney leading the line in big European games like thse but I suppose Ferguson saw just how weak Chelsea are at the moment and thought why not just attack them. The goal was a perfect example of how to take advantage of narrow teams; a little dinked ball out wide over the top to Giggs, a perfect lay off to Rooney and a good finish from a player who's been exceptional this week.
I can't see Chelsea scoring at Old Trafford in all honesty, they lack attacking threat at the moment.

I think he means the first decision they've had at Stamford Bridge go for them. Clearly he (along with every other Man Utd player/fan who moans about refereeing performances at Stamford Bridge) forgotten about this moment
Not really that good a game. Torres hit the inside of the post, Lampard had an effort cleared off the line. VDS made a very good save from a Torres header but that was about it. Man Utd's goal was very well taken (Giggs made Bosingwa look like a Sunday league player in the build up) and Rooney finished it well but I can't remember Cech being forced into making any good saves.
Evra brought Ramires down in the area in the 91st minute but neither the referee nor the referee next to the goal (who was only 10 metres away from it and had a perfect view) gave it. I see Ancelotti's questioning the referee's bottle. He should be questioning his own bottle too for starting Torres over Anelka. Anelka-Drogba-Malouda/Kalou were the attacking force of a side which scored 103 league goals last season. I posted on here that I doubted Torres would be a good signing (it had shades of Shevchenko) but at least Shevchenko scored a few goals (and cost £20m less).

If there's a vomit emoticon, it can't possibly do that justice. Unless it's like the throwing-up scene in Team America of course.

I know, it sounds mental. I still hate Ferguson I suppose but now that contes like Gary neville and Ronaldo aren't around anymore I don't really mind them. Rio's absence has also been nice as I can't usually stand the sight of that turd.
At first I thought United were just getting very lucky this season but now I think about it, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and City aren't anything special either.

Torres starts instead of Drogba, Abramovich must be picking the team
Cech; Ivanovic Alex Terry Cole; Ramires Essien Lampard; Anelka Torres Malouda.
Van der Sar; O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Park, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney.

Re: CL Quarterfinal - Chelsea vs. Man. Utd.
hahaha the sky commentators ridiculed schalke, that both manu/chelsea can feel very happy to draw schalke in the next round
well they maybe right, because on the other side is barca, but i they believe schalke is a pretty easy walkover
me wonders about shearer what he will say: how many schalke player would get into manu/chelsea

Decent start - more open than I expected. Lampard shoulda done better with the shot there.
Park is doing good. Utd have good options now he and Valencia fit.

Re: CL Quarterfinal - Chelsea vs. Man. Utd.
Offside goal for Man Utd. Good movement and header from Hernandez but he was a fraction offside. Excellent (and brave) call from the official, as it was only his head that was past the defender.
What a tackle from VDS. Dodgy decision to come off his line then, but he recovered superbly.

Fair enough, but Ancelotti also delivered using his own methods as well. By the time Berlusconi was strident with his demands for two strikers, the writing was pretty much on the wall for Ancelotti anyway.
