More bollocks than usual i think. Tevez should be guaranteed the main one and probably Nani or Nasri for the young one. I'm not sure what a Newcastle player has to do to get recognised, not even turncoat Carroll is nominated, i suppose they can't recognise him for his Liverpool form. Berbatov is another one that bizarrely doesn't get a look in.

I think it's more or less accurate...Nasri benefitted from the votes being done early, Nani should have been in the main one ahead of him.

VDV is another that probably should have been there.

Good to see someone like Parker get recognised.

Carroll did well for half a season (like Nasri) but then got injured and has barely played. Berbatov has scored mostly against weak sides.

Even I'd be the first to say that on league form only, Bale wouldn't be in there. And he's been injured for a long period, which is what I would have thought worked against VdV. Otherwise, I'd say Adam Johnson should have been in there too, possible Young player of the year, even though he's not been a regular starter, anyone can see he's in the top 5 young players in the league.

I don't see why Leighton Baines isn't in there, other than the fact he plays for Everton and is a left back.

No real standout for the main award this year.

I'm surprised Hernandez wasn't nominated for the YPOTY.

Scott Parker for me it is, a real English captain in a way Terry and Gerrard are not. Has a great Churchill-like mentality, refuses to surrender and saved his club from relegation as things stand. Likeble lad as well.

Young player of the year? Coleman's name really is Seamus? Haha, im going for him then. Nasri is a bit of a joke me thinks.

Another notable omission is Kompany. Top player.

Agree Berbatov should be in there. If Rooney had 20 league goals Gary Lineker would be creaming himself with excitement. I don't care if he only scored them over 7 or 8 games, he's still the top scorer in the league and for him not to be in there is ridiculous.

If Bale is in there then Caroll should be too. They both had excellent half seasons then suffered injuries.

I think Vidic should win it though. He is one of the fundamental reasons United have won the league. When he's not in the side they look a complete joke defensively as we saw when we battered them at Anfield.

Parker has been an inspiration too of course but he's playing in a side devoid of any other quality whereas Vidic has even stood out in a team which has several quality players.

I imagine Vidic and Bale will win. A lot of players will look at the young player list and think 'wow remember how good Bale was vs Inter milan, he has to win this."

Wilshere surly has to win young player. Tevez, Nani or Parker should be up there.

He can strike a ball. But he's basically a very poor man's Lampard. HAnging off the strikers and shooting on a regular basis.

David Silva's been great in some games too..thought he'd maybe get a look in. Whereas Hart started really well this season but has had some dodgy moments lately.

Doesnt make much sense that the likes of Bale go into both categories either..I mean, Wilshere has been as good as Bale I would say..so why isnt he being stuck in both categories?

Or rather, why not just limit them to 1 category. And stop putting 24 year olds into the young player category.

Hernandez should have been up for YPOTY instead of Coleman imo.

Funny thing is i dont think its nailed on Tevez will win City player of the year cos it will be close with him and Kompany who has been outstanding all season.

Pleased Hart got a nomination for YPOTY he's on for breaking our clean sheet record this season i think Sunderland was his 24th...the record is 25 held by Nicky Weaver.

0trick, Nolan never got into double figures for Bolton, and he played in a more advanced role. 12 goals from midfield, in a 442, with no pens, I don't care who you are that is a great record. I've continually whinged about Nolan in the past, but he has been awesome this season. As has Barton, but we all know why he doesn't get the recognition.

I think it's based on the calender year in all competitions, and yes it is the Inter games that have won it for him. I doubt the players even give a shit about this award.

And they've probably taken into account bale's performances at the end of last season as well when he scored and helped beat Arsenal and Chelsea amongst others.

I honestly don't see what everyone is complaining about. These awards are voted for by the players. If they feel Bale was the best player in the country this year, then so be it.

People keep banging on about the Inter game as the "only" reason he won. Which is quite an annoying fallacy: he's actually had some tremendous games for us this season. He was also phenomenally good at the back end of last season. The fact that most non Spurs fans / media only took notice after the Inter game and then expected him to play like that every week doesn't mean he's been doing fuck all before and since.

Obviously, people will point to the fact that Nani for example has assisted more than Bale this season, but then Nani hasn't had to try and feed goal shy strikers like Pav, Crouch and Defoe.

Yes, personally I'd ve given it Tevez this season myself, but Bale has had a good enough season to warrant it as well IMO.
