Young Player of the Year nominees are a bit more sensible:

    Evans
    Rafael
    Agbonlahor
    Ashley Young
    Ireland
    Aaron Lennon

Upon reflection, one factor that may explain that list is the fact that voting was probably done in late Feb/early March, when Man. Utd. were in the middle of their amazing streak and looking unbeatable.

    ok

I'm with you on Bassong too, but I expect Ireland to have the award wrapped up.

And whilst we're blowing the trumpet for players from our own club, where the fuck is Alex Song?!?!

Lampard should be there, these awards are pointless anyway, the football writers award is slightly more meaningful, but not much.

Ronaldo IS still top scorer I guess Erm

Alonso should be in there. He's been superb this season, but as someone mentioned the list was probably drawn up in Febraury and back then, Utd looked certs for the title.

Depends if we're talking Damien Commolli transfers or POTY picks.

It should be no surprise that footballers, who are generally thick and themselves only play in a maximum of 10% of all the games, are drawn so easily by media hype (e.g. surrounding Vidic this season) and heavily edited TV highlights.

if he played for Liverpool you'd be pissing yourself at his inclusion. He's been found out in these last few games, for me he'll never be good enough for a big club and he must be thanking the Gods that Vidic and Rio have been injured.

Evans has been pretty good. Dont know what you're all up in arms. Its always like this..bit of big club bias, the votes will have been taken during the time he was just coming in to the side and on form..etc

Ireland should win, but I wouldnt be surprised if it goes to Lennon.

So you're including little cameo's as a substitute. 24 starts this season, 5 in the milk cup which leaves us with 19 starts, and he hasn't even impressed. It's a joke.
