Maxi has turned into Messi Shocked

Liverpool as a team playing some good stuff too. Short passing, good combinations, superb movement. This is what you call good football. Not the safety first percentage ball that you used to play most of the time under Benitez.

But I'm not sure you want 5th place...Europa league is a nightmare. Redknapp's recent interviews have hinted heavily at him just not caring for 5th place. I expect Spurs to lose against both City and Liverpool.

Placement money! It's better finishing 5th and dropping(loosing on purpose) in Europa than finishing 7th or such.

And there are still quite a few average players in this lineup. It'll be interesting to see if this is just a purple patch come next season.

    Re: The 5th place

I'm split between wanting to get it and not but our youth team is producing so many players at the minute (after stealing some of your Barca coaches and thanks to Benitez) it would probably be beneficial. The squad will be in great shape age wise if we can get rid of some of the shite like Jovanovic, Poulsen, Koncheskey and Soto. Can't believe the transformation Dalglish has achieved.

Liver poooooool looking on the money right now. Will definitely finish above us now I reckon. Which is very impressive turnaround. We ve been both fairly unimpressive upfront and also pretty unlucky with decisions since going out of the CL. whilst it's disappointing to end the season on a low, the numpties ringing up talksport and BBC 5live calling for redknapp's head really need their heads examined. That's the problem with expectation- it turns fans into c**ts.

With some investment next summer, Pool to be back in the top 4 mix for sure

Liverpool are on great form it will be interesting to see what they do in the summer in terms of investment and if they can maintain this form next season. Suarez looks fucking awsome, to be honest if we are to lose Tevez in the summer i'll wish we'd signed Suarez in Jan cos he could have done a similar job.

Big one for us tomorrow night, Spurs have a great record against us but i believe we can beat them and id love to get revenge for last season. If we get in the Champs i think we will go from strength to strength, plus it will also help us out with these new financial laws coming in. The Champs league is the place to be and i hope we can do it. Come on City !

Modric is only doubtful. In any case, will look forward to Sandro, BAE, Lennon & co.

Still think the match would be super entertaining even if it's half as eventful as first game of the season. Numerous chances created by Spurs. Poor finishing (As we come to expect from them) and great goalkeeping by Joe hart made it one of the best 0-0's you'll ever see.

And of course, there'd be Balotelli. Finally the british media dig something good about the lad:

In hindsight, that match encapsulated everything wrong with our season - wasteful. If Redknapp had a crystal ball, he would have tried to sign a striker in the August transfer window - I think at that point his faith was in Defoe, Crouch and Pav to get at least 30+ between them. I believe they've ended up with about 10 between them in the league all season. That must be some kind of club record.

Although not a fan of Man City's all out purchasing policy, they have some players there who deserve to be in the CL - David Silva, Adam Johnson, Joe Hart, Tevez (if he stays), Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany.

And, despite being labelled defensive, they've actually scored more goals than we have this season.

Our display against Blackpool was pretty uninspiring, so I won't be holding my breath for a classic.

After a period of reflection (mostly last night in bed while watching an episode of Deadwood) I have come full circle. I hereby retract, renounce, repudiate and apologise for all prior comments I have made about Dalglish. He is Liverpool's messiah, he has done an outstanding job, and under him Liverpool will not only challenge for the top four next season but for the title. Frankly, anyone who can get Suarez and Maxi playing well has to be some kind of football management deity.

Not to come off as hating, but isn't this kinda the same sort of things that Benitez's 2006-08 teams did, start slow, and then finish like a train? All whilst going deep into the CL over this time?

Also, whose to say that Suarez isn't the new Andrei Arshavin? His 1st half season in the Prem was insanely good as well, and similar to Suarez, he was well-rested before joining Arsenal (for different reasons)

This is a complement really. I would love us to get back to being as good as we were under Rafa (2006-08)

Suarez's workrate and application appears to be what may set him apart from the likes of Arshavin.
