    Saturday, 17 September 2011
    Blackburn v Arsenal
    Aston Villa v Newcastle
    Bolton v Norwich
    Everton v Wigan
    Swansea v West Brom
    Wolverhampton v QPR

    Sunday, 18 September 2011
    Tottenham v Liverpool
    Fulham v Man City
    Sunderland v Stoke
    Man Utd v Chelsea

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    Several tasty fixtures this weekend.

Spurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs vs Liverpool will be chinteresting. Noah thinks Spurs' midfield is a class above Liverpool's so we shall see. Spurs' Europa trip wont have any effect seeing as Redknapp disgracefully fielded a youth side. Holloway would have been fined for that. Seemingly Spurs are too big for the Europa League now after 1 season in the big time but this a fixture they can't really afford to lose if they want another shot at Champions League football. Liverpool were unlucky to lose at Stoke, have had a week off to prepare and will be hungry for the win at a ground we've been unlucky at over the years.

United vs Chelsea is the stand out fixture and will show whether the Premier League has become La Liga. Torres lost 3 times at Old Trafford last season but has done well there on a personal level in the last 4 seasons or so.

City have a tough game away from home after their CL debut but Mancini would be foolish not to go with Dzeko and Aguero again - they seem the most potent strike-force for City.

I don't remember any Manchester City manager ever having an angry rant about post-Champions League EPL fixtures.

All Manchester City's post-Champions League EPL fixtures are away games.

All Manchester United's post-Champions League fixtures are home games.

I don't think this Chelsea side is ready to stop Man Utd, maybe if the game was played in October or November we would see a better contest.

The big game on Sunday is all about Gerrard vs Van der Vaart and Henderson vs Parker. There will be more goals than you can shake a stick at, and I can shake a stick at up to 2 goals.

Arsenal's foray into the shallow end of football teams continues: Swansea, German team, Blackburn, Shrewsbury. Not even Fergle himself could have concocted a gentler recovery period.

Very Happy just getting the banter started.

In all seriousness how do you reckon Spurs will line up? I think Dalglish will go for this:

A tough away fixture for us at Fulham. I think they've got a decent side and a good manager and its only a matter of time before thet start to improve...i just hope its after sunday. Obviously we played midweek in the champs but then again so did Fulham so that shouldnt make a difference. Its fucking typical though that we are away after every champs league game and U*d are at home...it not fair but we've just got to get on with it and im glad Mancini hasnt complained about it cos Fergie would be doing hi nut if they were in our position.

I hope we go with Aguero and Dzeko upfront and bring Clichy and Richards back to the defence, i think it will be a tough game but im confident we can get a result. U*d and Chelsea play eachother so if we can get a win it means we will gain on at least one of them this weekend so it will be an important 3 points if we can manage to get it.

    Cooooooooome on Cityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !

Does seem ridiculous that United will have that home advantage after every CL game but if City want to compete at the top they are going to have to get used to United getting done favours from refs and from Fergie's chums like Steve Bruce and Hodgson.

Well Looby, FYI there were 5 full internationals in that team that played in the You Groper League game. And also FYI, Livermore was voted MOTM, so that's 3 very impressive performances from him in 3 full starts. Don't believe the shite about him playing badly at Leeds.

As for Saturday, from what I've heard it will likely be this team (442, but actually playing a 4-1-3-1-1)

    -------------------Friedel (certain)-------------------

    Walker------------Kaboul-------King--------------BAE

    ---------------------Parker-------------------------

    Kranjcar/Lennon--------Modric----------------------Bale

    ----------------------Vdv----------------------------

    --------------------Adebayor--------------------------

If VDV is still injured, will probably be more a 4-1-3-2 with Defoe and Adebayor playing a traditional little n large front 2.

    Thugburn away is always tough and, with their backs against the wall, they will be extra motivated, the more so as they would perceive us as there for the taking. We'll need to see the sort of resolve we showed at Dortmund and it's a plus to have Song back. With Gervinho back too, we'll have another dimension to the attack. Ramsey is fit and with Benayoun having played 90 minutes, we may see a slight tweak in the midfield. So the likely start up line is;

    Chesney

    Bac - Mert - Kos - Gibbs

    Ramsey - Song - Arteta

    Theo - Gervinho

I know it's like the least fashionable formation in the world, but if you play 2 forwards, 2 wide men and Parker-Modric in CM it's a 442 goddamn it!

Laughing yes very true. Scott Parker likely to sit infront of the back 4 though and allows Modric to play higher up the pitch like at Wolves.

But yes, the French Tourist of fashionable formations it is indeed

Interesting - underperformers (Gibbs, Walcott) rotated, as has happened with Djourou. More ruthlessness from AW? I should hope so.

    1-1

Yakubu with a great early finish, but the defending from Koscielny was appalling. He wasn't paying attention and positioned a few yards behind the rest of the defence. Arsenal had been dominating, but the usual defensive frailties have been exposed.

Classic Arsenal - dominate a game completely, waste 2-3 good chances, then allow the opposition to equalise thanks in part to a dozy offside trap.
