Pele, Maradonna and Johan Cruyff as exampls:

people remember Maradonna's goal, Cruyff's turn, Pele's hat trick VS Sweden.

We don't sit there reading lists of trophy they won when we compare them.

People will remember Zidane for his CL goal at Hampden, his two goals in the World Cup final, his penalty against Italy, his headbutt on Matterazzi, his domination and 30 yard run against Portugal in Euro 2000 semi's, his bossing of Brazil in WC 2006 quarter final.

Zidane gave so many ranging varied memories of a player who stood head and shoulders above his peers.

I'm not saying Xavi or Iniesta haven't either, but as far as I'm concerned there aren't half as many varying Xavi or Iniesta moments burnt into my memory as there was with Zidane, or even Ronaldinho for that matter.

It's utterly subjective, you are welcome to feel Xavi / Iniesta are better because they won more trophies, but in 50 years time people will remember the moments, not the stats. And few can say they offered more than Zizou. Not even Gary Neville

Even if it were true that he wasn't the real deal at Juve (it's not), footballers don't become world class overnight and remain that way. Both Xavi and Iniesta took time bedding in at Barcelona. It's quite natural

xavi was a key part of the title winning team for van gal in 1999. imo he was better than rivaldo.

It's the elegance, the deft touch, the vision, the brains. It's what set Zidane, Rui Costa, Baggio, Pirlo, Redondo, Ronaldinho etc aoart from other great players, the moments, the genius. They weren't robotic, they were inspiring.

xavi was 23 then, did you see how the dortmund midfield and Paul lambert schooled a youngish zidane, doesn't mean he is better now does it.
