But, he won't be a starter. We have Boateng, Aquilani and Merkel to come back from injury. Out of those three, Aquilani is still the most influential for us.

Apparently he won't be back so long as he keeps having so much sex with Melissa Satta. Laughing

You forget, Muntari is away on international duty... he could be away for another 2 weeks Smile

I think Galliani see's Muntari as a long term replacement for Gattuso. bounce

Moratti is shit at transfers, no doubts there. From the looks of it, Branca is clueless when he doesn't have enough money...

Selling Motta Doh We might as well start preparing for Europa League next season...

It's done. He will be presented tomorrow at 3.30 pm in Paris and will wear t-shirt with number 28.

Italian window is now closed, so not a chance for Tevez deal.

Yup, 10m is what we get for Motta. We have replaced him with Guarin & Palombo, both arriving for a 1m loan each, with an option to buy of 11m & 4m respectively.

I am still figuring out my opinion on this deal... its a weird one. While replacing Muntari with someone who can actually play (Palombo) makes awesome sense, the Motta-Guarin swap confuses me. Is it worth it to risk a proven champion just coz of the age difference?

I would have preferred if we had kept Motta till the summer, made up our mind on Guarin, and then sold him.

    Worse, surely Guarin is cup-tied!!

    Wages wages wages.

And this concept of 'proven champion' sounds rather funny when applied to Motta. He's a squad player with constant injury problems. Not exactly the Yaya Toure of defensive midfielders.

Wages are important, but I am sure we can afford a few months extra of Motta's wages if that makes us qualify for the CL... If Guarin takes time to settle in & we miss the CL spot, this would be a massive fail.

And Motta is not a squad player, he is a key player in Inter XI.

Chevanton saved Lecce last season with his goal v Napoli and now they are hoping on another old boy in Bojinov.

Pinilla (so underrated) and Big Vince are great loans for Cagliari and Cesena respectively - Fiorentina should definitely have gone for one of these 2

Bit embarrassing that Big Vince is playing for such a low status club but him and Mutu could work.

If they remain injury & drug free (respectively), Iaquinta & Mutu could become an awesome strike force for Cesena.

    Yeah

Tbh I've never been a big fan of Motta since he joined us, not only cause of the injuries - he had lapses, was often slow and soft covering up, and had a tendency to hide when things got rough...
but surely his game is key for us, he's been our best distributor and metronome since Veron (which also shows how poor we've always been in that department).
This season especially he looked like he was the only one that could make us play in some sort of orderly way.

Selling him makes sense but doing it halfway thru the season is a gamble, and the replacements are pretty different players.
Btw, both Guarin and Palombo are of a much needed mould, the former offers lots of dynamism that we really lack and could be our Boateng, the latter is a stop gap supplement to Cambiasso, that we also lacked.
But we are left with no tempo-setter, and Guarin also is cup-tied, so all in all we're not improving much with this market tango.

Moreover, we did settle on 442 lately, which was a setup that worked decently defensively, and now we'd probably have to switch to some sort of rombus.
And in fact for what I know Ranieri wasn't much keen on this outlook, didn't want to sell Motta and asked for a winger that never came.
That is also not a good sign.
Anyway should turn good to fit in Sneijder, dunno about Alvarez.

    fcb wrote:Wages wages wages.
More like the last call to cash in on him... ten millions out of him at 30 were much needed, and I don't think he had any market apart from PSG.
Guarin and Palolmbo are also soft bets being loans with option to buy.

More like the last call to cash in on him... ten millions out of him at 30 were much needed, and I don't think he had any market apart from PSG.
Guarin and Palolmbo are also soft bets being loans with option to buy.

I thought it is Sneijder that won't fit in 4-4-2 while Alvarez could be used a winger

What Abundance means is that we will have to change the 442 to accommodate Sneijder, which won't suit Alvarez.

And Motta is not a squad player, he is a key player in Inter XI.

    Milan 4-3-1-2:

    Aquilani---MvB---Nocerino
    -----------Cassano

Seeing from Milan point of view, Guarin will be your Nocerino (box to box), Palombo=MvB (anchor), Alvarez=Aquilani (creativity), Cassano=Sneijder (trequartista), so IMO Alvarez could fit in

    Make sense?

Sure it does. The doubt is if Alvarez is up to the task (tactics/workrate) in a three man line - or if the other 2 can cover his ass enough.
We can't afford to stretch the lines or expose the defense these days.

I guess the base line-up could be Guarin-Cambiasso-Zanetti (Poli-Palombo-Obi) behind Sneijder OR Alvarez, and Pazzini+Milito/Forlan upfront

Doesn't Stankovic play nowadays? Not even as a sub?

He is constantly injured, and I am afraid, does not have the same workrate anymore. I can see him as a sub when (if) he is back, but he should not be starting top games anymore. Thats why I am a bit pissed at selling Motta, he was our Stank replacement. Perhaps Guarin will take up that role now, lets see what intensity he brings into the team.

Just was told that Guarin deal is a permanent transfer in reality and it was done as a loan only because of some restrictions connected to UEFA Financial Fair Play.
