Apparently Tevez and PSG deal is off.

Ligue 1 isn't that much of a downgrade in prestige over Serie A these days,

I don't agree with this part. Otherwise the post is staggeringly good.

Coefficient rankings maybe, but prestige? I don't know about that. I think Milan, Inter, and Juventus have more prestige for a player over Marseille, Lyon, and PSG. Also, Serie A as a brand is still more marketable than Ligue 1 despite dilapidated stadia, racism, and suspect administration.

French clubs are not movers and shakers in European football. Qatari investment will perhaps change that over time for one club, but they haven't won in Europe for a long time.

    @Targetman

Long time! Where do you hide these days? Just saw your post. I don't mind the Tevez deal. I think we can manage him, and I think he would be a great addition. Is he the most desperately needed reinforcement? No. Is he a solid one? Yes.

Love this response from City owners!!

Uppermost in City's thoughts is that they should not allow a player who has behaved as badly as Tevez to dictate his transfer and Mubarak added: "As things stand, Milan isn't an option for Tevez. Mr [Adriano] Galliani [the Milan vice-president] and his advisers have developed a misplaced sense of confidence. If they want to be a consideration in this transfer window they would do better to stop congratulating one another and begin to look at how they would meet our terms."

Tevez, he said, "remains a player with contractual obligations to Manchester City for the next two and a half seasons and, unless we receive an offer that we deem appropriate, the terms of his contract will be enforced".

City's firm belief is that a deal is being brokered behind the scenes. Tevez and Joorabchian were photographed dining with Galliani in Brazil this month and Mubarak's annoyance was barely concealed as he talked of the way Internazionale and Paris St-Germain had "approached discussions [for Tevez's transfer] with us in good faith and it is always a positive experience to deal with people with a professional approach".

Come on Galliani, cough up the dough or shut up! Razz

I have to agree with Sheikh Mansour...in his position I would say the same.

However, it remains to be seen how much of it is bluster. Maybe City will keep Tevez and let him rot. Unlikely, but possible.

Nah, I am with you... this is all bargaining... but still its good to see City playing hard ball. Its too easy for them to cut their losses, probably what Galliani expected...

I still expect Tevez to be a Milan player by month end.

City are in a very weak position, don't pay too much attention to their blustering.

Like blue9, I think Tevez will be at Milan by the 31st.

I am not sure why Inter are trying to sell Motta, he is quite critical for our midfield now that Stankovic is too old. I can see the temptation of the 10m that PSG appear to be offering for what clearly is an injury prone player, but to replace someone like Motta, we will have to spend much more. Unless Inter already have a deal in place with Montolivo for the summer, which is very unlikely (and even then I would only sell Motta when we get Montolivo). More likely, Inter are trying to raise funds to big for Lucas (20-30m rated player), which makes it sound even more silly in their FFP times...

Inter Fans, how do you feel about Guarin?

He was the catalyst behind much of Porto's success last season even though Moutinho, Hulk and Falcao got most of the credit. The fee is 11m euros apparently, is this true? If so, that's prety decent though i'm not sure how he'd fit into the Inter line-up.

I haven't seem enough of him, tbh. He seems like a one-season wonder, and such players rarely step up when given the opportunity in a bigger club. Not sure where he will fit, perhaps he is a replacement of Motta, who might join PSG most likely in the summer.

How good is he on the wings?

I hear its a loan deal initially, with an 11m option to buy in the summer. It would suggest that Motta will be leaving us in the summer...

He's a very good player, definitely not a one-season wonder.

He's a box-to-box midfielder mostly but is very skillful. Reminds me a bit of Abou Diaby without the injuries and poor workrate. I'm not sure what formation Inter play these days but he'd be very good in a midfield three.

He can also play on the right but he'll contribute a lot less.

Guarin is a good transfer. He will add quality to the Inter midfield. I think he is more defensively inclined. Cambiasso and Guarin behind Sneijder would look like a good midfield to me. Heard there are issues between midget and Tinkerman?

Muntari to Milan is an atrocious transfer.

But, he won't be a starter. We have Boateng, Aquilani and Merkel to come back from injury. Out of those three, Aquilani is still the most influential for us.

Flamini is injured. Ambrosini is there, but our midfield is decimated. Gattuso, Boateng, Aquilani, Flamini are all out. We recalled Merkel, but he is now out for 2 months after an injury. It's a shit transfer, but it's not pointless.

Strasser sorta, but he is also injured Sad.

Aquilani and Boateng should be back for Arsenal--the former for the first leg, the latter second.

Just thought I'd let you know Smile.

I read that Motta deal to PSG is back. Would he go now or during the summer?

@Romford To tell you the truth playing English teams scares me. We seldom do well against them--2007 was a somewhat recent exception.

AOC plays on the left side of midfield? I bet he is another pacy player who will torment us. Last year all it took was one slip for Yepes to decide the tie against Tottenham. This year we don't have Yepes (injured Laughing), and I hope we can keep organized like we did against Barcelona at Camp Nou (bar the Abate blip).

A lot of Milan fans are confident about this tie, but I think we will struggle. In the end, we may just shade it.

    Forza,

Normally i'm very confident against Italian sides. All we seem to have to do is play at a high tempo and you seem to struggle. I'm surprised that most haven't adapted to that yet.

This year though, i'm not so confident. Cesc and Nasri have gone, while Wilshere is injured. Last season that was where the bulk of our creativity came from.

This season, we are a lot more direct and attack with pace down the flanks in comparison to previous years where our game was based around posession. We've played ok in some games but have been absolutely horrible in others. What team will turn up against you in February? It'll be interesting to see.

With regards to AOC, he reminds me a lot of Rooney at a young age. He's comfortable on either flank even though he started his career as a centre-midfielder. A lot of people compare him to Walcott because they're both mixed race, quick and come from the Southampton academy. That's where the comparison ends though. He's very skillful and has an eye for a pass - something Walcott hasn't shown in his six years at Arsenal.

AOC has so much promise. I don't know if you caught his league debut against United the other week but it was hugely impressive. He probably won't start against you because Gervinho will be back by then.

I'd say the tie at the moment is 55-45 in your favour. However, if we can build up some form and recover a few players in the build-up to the game, it could well be 50-50 IMO. Regardless, i'm sure it'l be a good two games between the teams Ale

But, he won't be a starter. We have Boateng, Aquilani and Merkel to come back from injury. Out of those three, Aquilani is still the most influential for us.

Apparently he won't be back so long as he keeps having so much sex with Melissa Satta. Laughing
